Album Release News Weekly: Friday 18th May 2012

A little slower this week with album releases, but nevertheless some great ones in there. This week's release includes a 25 year celebration release from Rage, Angus Stone, King Tuff, Animal Collective and Bigg Jus. Also some debuts including one from Melbourne artist Siobhan.

SOULSAVERS

The upcoming album is titled The Light The Dead See and will be available through V2 Records on 25 May. The album is the follow up to their 2009’s acclaimed ‘Broken’.

HUGO RACE

The artist has returned to Aussie shores with an announcement of an East Coast tour in conjunction with his first solo album No but it’s true. The tour will begin in June and the album will be released 10 June through Rough Velvet Records (MGM).

BIGG JUS

Bigg Jus has announced the upcoming album Machines That Make Civilization Fun. The lead single is ‘Black Roses’ and is available now. The second solo album from the rapper will officially be released 5 June.

WHITE HOUSE BAND

The rock band from New York, has announced their new mixtape Renaissance hosted by DJ Mick Boogie which is available now exclusively on http://indy.livemixtapes.com/main.php

JAPANDROIDS

The Vancouver duo is set to release their sophomore album titled Celebration Rock. The highly anticipated release will be available 29 June through Inertia. The album is the follow-up of their 2009 debut ‘Post-Nothing’ which gained praise from the likes of NME.

EXITMUSIC

The debut album from the New York husband and wife duo is titled Passage. the album is out today through Inertia and fans can expect electronic, indie tracks that will not let listeners down.

TWIN SHADOW

Confess is the new second album of Twin Shadow aka George Lewis Jnr. The album was self produced and has a refreshingly modern sound that fans have come to expect from the artist. The first single is ‘Five seconds’ and the album is out 6 July via Remote Control/4AD.

KELLY HOGAN

Set to tour this US summer, the singer has also just released her new track ‘Plant White Roses’ from her upcoming solo album, I like to keep myself in pain. The record is due out 8 June through Anti-records.

POLLYN

L.A trio, Pollyn are due to release their sophomore album filled with more of their unique sound. The album Living in Patterns will be out 11 June through Republic of Music and will follow 2008’s ‘This Little Night’, no doubt with the same success.

KARYBDIS

The London metal band have announced the release of their debut From the depths. Coming from the UK underground metal scene, listeners can expect some unexpectedly refreshing twists on heavy riffs and percussion. The album will be out 2 July.

PHILM

Fans will be surprised, albeit pleasantly, that the side project of Slayer drummer, Dave Lombardo, does not have the heavy metal sound one might expect. Lombardo has described the band’s direction as ‘couldn’t be more different’ from Slayer and with 60s influences, every song is unique. The album Harmonic is out 18 May through Fuse/Ipecac.

SIOBHAN

The Melbourne singer/songwriter has been making a name for herself in her hometown and with a debut album out later this month – she is definitely one to watch. Working last year with engineer Ross Calia, the album Soldier Heart has been much anticipated and will be available on 23 May.

RAGE

Rage has announced a Silver Jubilee 25 years 2CD and 1 DVD pack to be released on 8 June. The release will feature the likes of Bjork, The Beastie Boys, Pulp, The Chemical Brothers, Busta Rhymes, Jay Z, Lady GaGa, Weezer and Grinspoon amongst many more classics.

JOSH KYLE

The young Australian jazz artist has announced his album Possibilities and also a launch tour to go with it. The tour will include dates in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane. The album release is 19 May.

OPOSSOM

Electric Hawaii is the new release from Opossom. The 10 track record will be out officially on 1 June.

KING TUFF

A new self titled album has been announced to be released later this month. The release will be a 12 track album following the 2008 debut. The album is out 25 May through Sub Pop/Inertia.

ANGUS STONE

Having already released two singles, the acclaimed artist and one half of the hit band Angus and Julia Stone, Angus Stone will officially release his solo album Broken Brights 13 July following a performance at Splendour.
