Album News Weekly: 3rd June 2015

In This Issue: It’s an Australian and British-dominated affair this week, with albums dropping from huge names such as Sarah Blasko, Muse, and Young Guns.


British rock/space opera/alternative/progressive trio Muse are returning with their seventh studio album, Drones, on June 9th. Check out the 6-minute killer track “Reapers” here:

Sarah Blasko & Nick Wales

Singer-songwriter Sarah Blasko has teamed up with Sydney-based composer Nick Wales to record Emergence, out June 5 via Create/Control. You can listen to “Pain Is A Number” here:

FFS (Franz Ferdinand & Sparks)

Following on from an idea that began in 2004 when Franz Ferdinand released their self-titled debut album, FFS is a quirky collaboration between Franz Ferdinand and Sparks. More details on the album will be revealed soon, but in the meantime, lead single “Piss Off” is available to listen to here:

Sonny Landreth

Bound By The Blues is the new album from Sonny Landreth to be released on June 8th through Provogue Records. It marks a return to the slide guitarist's musical roots, and you can check out the Soundcloud stream of single “Bound By The Blues” here:

Cosmic Psychos

Cosmic Psychos may be the Aussiest band to ever exist, and will be releasing Cum The Raw Prawn on June 5th. “Better, Not Bitter” is on YouTube now:

Young Guns

June 5 sees Brit rockers Young Guns dropping their third studio album Ones and Zeros. Taking on a more alternative approach than their previous offerings, you can hear single “Daylight” now:

The Bad Plus Joshua Redman

In 2011, The Bad Plus invited saxophonist Joshua Redman to join them for a week of performances in New York City. After recording this album last year, it is now releasing through Nonesuch on June 5th.

Jake Houlsby
