Album News Weekly: 2nd September 2015

In This Issue: Spring has begun and the pop records are rolling in! This week is indescribable with everything from Duran Duran's new album to something a little heavier out of Finland, a taste of hip hop and some straight up guitar driven grooves.

Beirut

Zach Condon and his band Beirut will release their fourth album No No No on Friday 11th September via 4AD / Remote Control. The album was recorded over a two week period during one of the coldest New York winters - with blizzard after blizzard raging outside.

Gary Clark Jr.

Singer, songwriter and virtuoso guitarist Gary Clark Jr. will release his second full-length studio album The Story of Sonny Boy Slim. Said to be the evolution of an artist embracing his roots the album is out September 11th through Warner Music.

Duran Duran

Duran Duran will release their 14th studio album, Paper Gods on September 11th through Warner Bros. Records. Described as pop experimental the record features special guests Janelle Monáe, former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, Kiesza, violinist Davidé Rossi and actress Lindsay Lohan.

Micachu & The Shapes

Micachu & The Shapes’ return with their new record Good Sad Happy Bad, caught with a field recorded during rehearsals in an East London studio. The album will be released September 11th via Rough Trade / Remote Control Records, with the first single “Oh Baby” is available to stream here: https://youtu.be/a7EzjJvMLKo

Madato

It's been just over three years since Madato dropped his EP. This time around, the storyteller debuts his first long player Crafted out September 11th with Items & Things.

Grave Pleasures

Finland group Grave Pleasures, formed out of the debris of the band Beastmilk, have set September 4th as collision date for their new album Dreamcrash, which will be released by Sony Music Australia.

The Arcs

The Arcs’ debut album, Yours, Dreamily, will be released September 4th on Nonesuch Records. The Arcs are Dan Auerbach, Leon Michels, Richard Swift, Homer Steinweiss, Nick Movshon, Kenny Vaughan, and Mariachi Flor de Toloache.

Simply Red

Their first studio album in eight years Big Love from British pop group Simply Red is available Friday 4th September driven by that trademark blue-eyed sound.

James Leg

James Leg (aka John Wesley Myers of the Black Diamond Heavies) is set to release his second solo album, Below The Belt, September 4th through Alive Natural Sound Records

TRAVI$ SCOTT

Hip Hop artists TRAVI$ SCOTT has unveiled September 4th as the release date for his full-length major label debut RODEO through Sony Music.
