Album News Weekly: 17th December 2014

In This Issue: Even during the last few weeks of the year there is never a dull batch of albums being released. This week features the likes of Kilter setting you up for the summer, the king of darkness himself Marilyn Manson, favourites Funeral for a Friend and couple of classically influenced artists just to keep your Christmas season light.


Rounding out a big year of recordings and touring, Kilter is delivering an album of exclusives, unreleased remixes and live favourites featuring such artists as ODESZA, Duke Dumont, The Kite String Tangle, Mø feat. Diplo, RÜFÜS, Andy Bull and Snakadaktal – all ReShaded by Kilter. In time for the party season, ReShades is out this Friday December 19th via etcetc Music Australia.

Menace Beach

UK based Menace Beach are set to release their debut album Ratworld on 30th January 2015 via Memphis Industries and Shock Records. Their debut album, recorded at MJ’s suburban home studios, is a psyche tinged wonderland.

Marilyn Manson

The release date for antihero Marilyn Manson's new album THE PALE EMPEROR is has been pushed back to the 23rd January 2015 and it out through Cooking Vinyl Ltd.

Tigran Hamasyan

Trained as a classical and jazz musician, the debut from pianist Tigran Hamasyan entitled Mockroot is out on January 30 via Nonesuch Records. Mixing up piano with synths, sound effects, and electric bass, you can watch a teaser for the album here:


D.C. based prog outfit Periphery are set to release dual albums Juggernaut: Alpha and Juggernaut: Omega, on January 23rd via Roadrunner Records Australia. Each feature a booklet cover from graphic novelist Justin Randall that add a visual layer to the conceptual albums.

Funeral For A Friend

Welsh rock band Funeral For A Friend will release their latest opus Chapter And Verse through Roadrunner Records on 23rd January, 2015.


Brooklyn-based genre-eschewing rockers Trades announce their forthcoming LP and fourth overall release, About Above Across out January 13th.

Frisk Frugt

Frisk Frugt reveals his forthcoming album Den Europæiske Spejlbue out on January 16th. The album reflects Andes Lauge Meldgaard’s studies of western european folk and grand orchestral music and is out through Believe Digital.


Perth soul songstress, Shameem has announced the release of her independent new album The Second City set for release on January 16th, featuring her strong soul influence with a unique jazz sensibility.

On 19 December 2014, Decca releases the soundtrack to Paddington, with music composed by Nick Urata (Little Miss Sunshine). The soundtrack includes songs reminiscent of Notting Hill with many performed by D Lime - featuring Tobago Crusoe.
