Album News Weekly: 13th May 2015

In This Issue: This week sees a massive bunch of original releases hitting the shelves with the pop punk category filling up fast. Also check out releases from feel good vibe kings Hot Chip to the debut from Shamir!

Hot Chip

Hot Chip will release their sixth album Why Make Sense? on May 15th via EMI Records. Recorded in Oxfordshire and London and produced by Hot Chip with Mark Ralph, check out the lead single “Huarache Lights” here:


15th May also sees Las Vegas-based artist Shamir releasing his first full-length LP Ratchet on XL Recordings / Remote Control Records, including the single “On The Regular”.

The Milk Carton Kids

The Milk Carton Kids have announced the release of their new album Monterey via ANTI Records. Arriving May 15th it was record halls, churches and theatres while on their North American tour.

Guantanamo Baywatch

Portland's Guantanamo Baywatch sign to Suicide Squeeze for the release of their new LP, Darling... It's Too Late! out May 15th. Wrangling up a ribald mishmash of classic surf instrumentation and brash garage rock.

Twenty One Pilots

Twenty One Pilots will be releasing their second studio album, Blurryface, on May 15th via Warner Music Australia. Check out “Fairly Local” here:

King Parrot

Thrash/grind miscreants, King Parrot have signed to EVP Recordings in Australia for the release of their new album Dead Set on May 15th, promising punk rock mayhem.

Fight Like Apes

Fight Like Apes have announced the release of their eponymous 3rd album Fight Like Apes. Due out on Alcopop! Records on the 18th May, hit up their track “Pretty Keen on Centrefolds”:


Barbarossa, the nom de plume of Londoner James Mathé, follows up with Imager out 15th May on Shock Records/Memphis Industries. The album is said to be a cerebral, slow-burning album, tinged with melancholy and an alluring humanism.


Virginia’s pop punk quintet Broadside are taking their youthful, energetic anthems to their debut album, Old Bones, released May 19th on Victory Records.

Fur Coat

Balance Presents compiled by South American production/DJ duo Fur Coat will be released locally 15th May through Balance Music/ Universal.

Paper Arms

Melodic punks Paper Arms are set to release their new LP Great Mistakes on May 15th with Poison City Records. Running the gamut from punk-rock to grunge to epics the album sees a variety of influences.

Brandon Flowers

Brandon Flowers has confirmed he will release his new album, The Desired Effect, on May 19th on Island Records.

Holly Herndon

4AD and Remote Control Records are excited to announce the signing on Holly Herndon for the release of her forthcoming album Platform out May 16th.


Ceremony have announced the release of their fifth studio album The L-Shaped Man out in Australia on 15th May via Matador / Remote Control Records, condensing all that heartbreak.
