Album News Weekly: 12th August 2014

In This Issue: There's heaps in there this week! We have Augie March, Kasey Chambers, The Smith Street Band, Velociraptor, Banoffee, Willow Beats, The Datsuns and HEAPS MORE. It's a nice list this week, so have a gander.

Augie March

Just when you think they’ve gone forever, they come back. Augie March will release a new record, Havens Dumb, on October 3 this year through Dark Satanic Records via Caroline. It’s just opened for pre-order now, so get on it.

Willow Beats

Water is the new EP from duo Willow Beats, out 12 September through Pilerats. Check out the lead single “Merewif” here:

Kasey Chambers

Darling of the Australian country scene and all round brilliant person, Kasey Chambers is releasing a new record on August 29. It’s called Bittersweet, and it’s sure to be a lovely listen. It’s also her tenth record (!).


Huge Brisbane band Velociraptor are about to release their self-titled debut LP, out August 22 through Dot Dash/ Remote Control records. They’re also going on tour around then, so hit up their Facebook for dates.

The Datsuns

Deep Sleep is the name of the new record from The Datsuns, out October 22 through Hellsquad/Valve records. They’ve just dropped the first cut on their website, so check it out:

Rocco Deluca

Indie rock artist Rocco DeLuca is about to release the follow-up to 2011’s Drugs & Hymns. It’s a self-titled release, out August 29 through Universal Music/ 429 Records.

The Kite String Tangle

In 12 months he’s gone from unknown to playing a packed out tent at Splendour In The Grass, now The Kite String Tangle will release Vessel on August 12, a brand sparkling new EP. Given how big the last one was, definitely check it out, sure to be one of the big local releases of the year.

Singing For Humans

Melbourne upstarts Singing For Humans are just about to release their debut EP. It’s a self-titled release, and the first cut of it has just been revealed, so check it out:

Cosmo Thundercat

Local Adelaide rockers Cosmo Thundercat have just released their debut self-titled, out now through iTunes and Bandcamp. Hit it up for some great garage rock.

Nicholas Allbrook

Pond frontman and all round mad musical genius, Nick Allbrook will release his first solo album through Spinning Top Records on September 5. It’s called Ganough, Wallis and Fatuna. You can get the first single as a free download here:


The moniker of Melbourne singer Martha Brown, Banoffee is getting ready to release a five track EP – a self-titled release available 22 August. There’s some slick R&B on there, so check it out.

The Autumn Isles

Perth indie rockers The Autumn will release their second album, A Bird Called Cognition, on August 15 through Firestarter Distribution. The first cut from it, “Harvest In The Night”, can be grabbed when you pre-order the album.

The Smith Street Band

Throw Me In The River is the new record from beloved Melbourne rockers The Smith Street Band, and it’s bound to be a big one. It’s out October 29 through Poison City Records.
