Single Review: Tara Simmons "Be Gone" (2011)

We know Tara Simmons as a short statured folky songstress who is sweet in all senses of the word. However, her latest single, “Be Gone”, introduces a brand new side to the singer we’ve never seen. It’s a little more edgy, a whole lot less safe and definitely something to be a little intimidated by.

Heavily shrouded in synth-y goodness it captured Tara’s raw essence. The vocals are what we’ve come to expect from the Brisbane singer: simply stunning, with all the right inflections. The song, in its simplicity, works exceptionally well. All that really accompanies the vocals is that synth riff, and tom heavy drums. And with that vocal hook, it’s bound to get stuck in your head.

Review Score: 9/10

Kyle Bright also had this to say about the track:

"Be Gone" sees the talented Brisbane-based musician Tara Simmons giving the public the first taste of what to expect on her second album due to be released in 2012. It would be easy to classify this song as a breakup tune upon first listen, but Simmons explores the side of a friendship where one is constantly giving and cannot expect the same in return. It’s a dance-pop indie gem that will definitely be receiving a bit of air time this summer. The B-side to this single, ‘Honey’ is similarly impressive. Be sure to give it a listen!
