While most probably recognize the incredibly talented Jeremy Neale as the frontman of Velociraptor, or possibly half of the comparably minimalist-rock duo Tiger Beams. Now to increase his already impressive portfolio, Jeremy is striking out with his new band The Jeremy Neale Five. The new single "Darlin'" mixes together the best parts of fifties and sixties pop and doo-wop; probably best described as the daughter of Johnny Burnette and The Penguins meeting the illegitimate bastard child of The Monkees. It's fantastic, have a listen here:

There's another song on the Triple J Unearthed website, "Winter Was the Time", that's similarly awesome and sounds like a hypothetical situation of Roy Orbison forgoing the piano for electric guitar, and then dumpster diving to find a drum kit. It's well worth a listen.
