MUSIC

Single of the Day: Dustin Tebbutt ft Thelma Plum "Silk" (2015)

The second single lifted off his upcoming mini-album Home, Dustin Tebbutt’s new track Silk is a delicate piece of acoustic driven gold. No stranger to collaboration, having just released a single with The Kite String Tangle, Tebbutt has Thelma Plum lending her soft vocals to verses, as well as adding some glorious harmonies. Listen to “Silk” here:

Music Video of the Day: Boy & Bear "Walk the Wire" (2015)

Always a band for a good, creative video clip, Boy & Bear have given us some entertaining visuals for single "Walk the Wire", the lead from new album Limit of Love. For a lighthearted song about taking risks, the video is full of on-set accidents for member Killian Gavin as he explodes, catches on fire, and is eventually maimed and replaced by an evil version of himself. Watch the hilariously chaotic clip below.

Single of the Day: Crepes "Size Of Your Town" (2015)

Led by what is described in their bio as the "fanciful charm" of Tim Karmouche, Melbourne-via-Ballarat five piece Crepes are making some truly great music right now, with the sort of music that you can't quite stop listening too. We love their debut EP Cold Summers here at the AU and so their latest single "Size Of Your Town", taken from the record, was an obvious choice for us today. Listen to the beautifully catchy track here:

Music Video of the Day: Skryptcha Feat. Daniel Mifsud "What We Do It For" (2015)

"What We Do It For", a love letter to hip hop culture, marks the first video from Sydney's Skryptcha in three years, reminding us of the deft flow the local emcee is known for, with meaningful verses spun around a soulful hook from Daniel Mifsud. Being the first single off his forthcoming album Bright Blues, Skryptcha wastes no time painting a personal portrait of himself and the city he represents from the studio to some stunning shots of Sydney Harbour. Check the clip out below and welcome back the local emcee as he preps his third studio album.

Music Video of the Day: Oscar Galt & The Eventual Somethings "Recompense" (2015)

"Looking for a little fun/living with a loaded gun", spins Oscar Galt & The Eventual Somethings on the fast-paced "Recompense", a dirty garage-rock tune coming straight out of Melbourne. The band, who are part of an October residency at The Tote in Collingwood, have released a black-and-white music video for the catchy tune which you can watch below:

Single of the Day: Nicholas Allbrook "Blanket 3072" (2015)

Inventive Perth artist Nicholas Allbrook has just released a penetrating, sexy jam titled "Blanket 3072" ahead of his Walrus EP due in mid-October. Otherworldly and quite creepy, the atmospheric track sizzles underneath a wall of synth and bounce with a raspy, whispered undercurrent.

Single of the Day: Babes Are Wolves "Wait" (2015)

Adelaide band Babes Are Wolves have hit the ground running with their debut single "Wait", taken from their forthcoming EP You Only Live Twice. The punchy package of garage grunge shows off a big sound that could easily have them filling venues in the near future. Layers of guitar shredding lifted by a banging rhythmic drum pattern and lead vocalist Anna Bouras' strong performance; "Wait" is definitely something you want to hear.

Music Video of the Day: Ha the Unclear "Growing Mould" (2015)

New Zealand band Ha the Unclear create clever indie pop with an irrepressible energy that can be heard all throughout their debut album Bacterium, Look At Your Motor Go. Today, their funky video for single "Growing Mould" is our Music Video of the Day, with it's beautiful photography - consisting mostly of flatlays - and tongue-in-cheek narrative about soured relationships. Check out the clip below.

Exclusive Music Video Premiere: Bones Atlas "Sex (On Their Minds)" (2015)

Sydney four-piece Bones Atlas have delivered a crunchy, soul-nourishing blues rock number with "Sex (On their Minds)", the lead single from their second full-length album Little Earthling scheduled for a release tomorrow, Friday 11th September. To accompany the fuzzed-out track is a raw video capturing the energy of one of the band's live performances in a studio environment.

Single of the Day: Tongues. (Glasgow, Scotland) "You Never Knew Me" (2015)

Today we're excited to bring you brand new single from Glasgow electronic artist Tongues., who we've been a fan of for some time here at the AU! The track "You Never Knew Me", is the second to be released from their new EP, due out next month. The first, "Religion", has been doing the rounds since its premiere and has already clocked up close to 100,000 plays on Soundcloud. But as for today's brilliantly addictive single, listen to it here:
