Single of the Day: Montaigne “Clip My Wings” (2015)

Montaigne has already had a huge year, already supporting San Cisco, Megan Washington and Japanese Wallpaper and it’s only set to get bigger with the release of her new single “Clip My Wings”. This track was produced by Tony Buchen (The Preatures, Andy Bull) at Albert Studios in Sydney, and the incredible production compliments Montaigne’s unbelievable voice and songwriting perfectly. Perth band Moana are on a roll right now, making various 'best of' lists by Australia's music media and selling out shows ahead of their anticipated EP The Trilogy of the Black Monsoon. Single of the Day: Loon Lake “Radiator” (2015)

We’re really going to miss Loon Lake. But it softens the blow when they’re giving us an entire new album as well as doing an extensive tour before they disband. “Radiator” is lifted off their upcoming album, recorded throughout this year, which is set for an independent release in September, right before their farewell tour. It’s set to be a bittersweet time, but get yourself ready with “Radiator” here:

Music Video of the Day: Tkay Maidza “M.O.B” (2015)

Tkay Maidza is killing it at the moment. Barely a month ago she was packing out the Mix Up tent at Splendour, and next week she’s kicking off a huge national tour, with dates already selling out. Keeping it consistent with the video for her breakout track "Switch Lanes”, the new video for her track “M.O.B.” is a stylised cartoon sci-fi, and it’s an amazing watch. Check it out here:

Single of the Day: Jinja Safari “Accident” (2015)

“Accident”, the new single from Sydney's Jinja Safari is a unique piece of pop music. With offbeat time signatures and expertly planned vocal phrasing, the song rises and falls in and out of choruses, in most sections using very little to make a very big sound. Listen to the stunning track here:

Music Video of the Day: I Know Leopard “Close My Eyes” (2015)

I Know Leopard make vibrant and beautiful music, and the new video for their single “Close My Eyes” perfectly represents that. Directed by Charlie Ford, who’s worked with the likes of Courtney Barnett, Holy Holy and Vance Joy, the video takes us from sun drenched outdoors to warping city scapes to darkness; all with flawless cinematography. Single of the Day: World’s End Press “Tall Stories” (2015)

After their last single “Spirals (Slide Away)” got a huge amount of airplay, World’s End Press have treated us with the follow up “Tall Stories”. An unmistakably club oriented track, “Tall Stories” is driven by an array of expertly crafted synth sounds working with a perfect combination of drum machine grooves and energetic live drums. This one is the first cut from the upcoming Tall Stories EP, a 6-track due for release on the 25th of September. Listen to the title track here:

Music Video of the Day: Fait Accompli "Born Free" (M.I.A. Cover) (2015)

Street artist Anthony Lister (better known as just "Lister") has directed a music video for Sydney band Fair Accompli. Though the single is a cover - of M.I.A's "Born Free" - the video is unsurprisingly original. And it's a superb reimagining of the song to boot. Sydney's Lansdowne Hotel announces line up for their free farewell festival 'Last Call'

Sydney is losing yet another long-standing venue with the depressing exit of Lansdowne Hotel, set to close its doors for the very last time this month. A staple for students and a constant platform for local musicians throughout the years, the pub on the corner of Parramatta and City Rd has announced a free music festival to help make the loss sting a bit less, rounding up 13 local bands for a day of nostalgia and celebration.

Single of the Day: Eleanor Dunlop “Rollin’ On” (Paul Conrad Rework) (2015)

Sydney artist Eleanor Dunlop started 2015 by giving us the slinky summer guitar jam and triple j favourite “Rollin’ On”. Now, while she works on new material, she’s teamed up with local producer and singer/songwriter Paul Conrad to deliver us a delicious rework of the track. Super hooky, lush and otherworldly electronic, it’s a completely different take on the original and a teaser for an exciting new sound for Dunlop.

Reggae Royalty tour announced featuring Eddy Grant, Sly and Robbie, and Inner Circle

A two-date tour has been announced, delivering Australia a massive triple bill featuring three pioneering reggae acts. Dubbed the Reggae Royalty tour, the all-star line up will feature multi-platinum luminary Eddy Grant, veteran duo Sly and Robbie, and Grammy Award winning quintet Inner Circle.

Single of the Day: Slum Sociable "All Night" (2015)

After their Triple J-favourite debut single “Anyway”, Slum Sociable have returned with a new single, “All Night”. It’s got the same jazz influenced grooves that we saw in their earlier work, and embraces subtle electronica to fill out the sample laden sound.
