Single of the Day: Koral & The Goodbye Horses "Pony" (2015)

There's something deliciously dark and indulgent about some corners of the Adelaide music scene. Some have commented on the city as being a place that looks plain and clean-cut on the surface but beneath, there's a rippling underbelly of temptation and edge that people have found themselves getting lost in. Hell, take a look at the ad for the Barossa Valley set to The Bad Seeds' "Red Right Hand". It's a great vibe currently employed by some of the great emerging and established musicians based in Adelaide and in "Pony", Koral & The Dark Horses give us another great example.

Fusing some sexy, hazed out rock tones with a lick of country here and there throughout, the debut single from the Adelaide group is brooding, gorgeously layered and offers a great look into what's still to come. The sounds have been fleshed out brilliantly since the band has been jamming this year; vocalist and songwriter Koral Chandler, through this project, is releasing music under her own name for the first time and has enlisted the talents of some great Adelaide musos to build on some great musical foundations.

As the first track released from their debut EP Nocturnes, "Pony" is a solid lead single. Take a listen before and check the band out online to get your hands on the EP.
