The artist formerly known as Phatchance - Chance Waters has just released his new single 'Infinity,' the first offering from his upcoming LP. Sticking with the acoustic instrumentals which have earned him much critical acclaim, Chance doesn't rely on a traditional hip-hop beat to drive this song, rather he embraces a beautiful instrumental with some very well-written verses.

There's no doubting Water's sincerity, and anyone who's attemtping to break from the moulds of Australian hip-hop is worth paying attention to. That said, there's just not enough to keep this song interesting, and Waters' monotonous flow with rattled-off cliches doesn't seem to assist things further. A lot of work to be done here. 5/10
This is a beautifully constructed track with deep and intriguing lyrics, very easy to find yourself immersed within both lyrically and rhythmically. 8/10
This may be the coming of age for Australian hip-hop. Rhythmic, lyrical and structural sophistication combine for a grand effect. Musing upon the nature of life and death allows Chance to unleash his lyrical prowess in an unrestrained manner. Perhaps a future classic. 9/10
From the Dylan-esque folk intro to the explosive build out of the bridge, there's a real dexterity to this track. Lesser artists would've fumbled with this many ideas but Chance twists them smartly around some impressively deft lyrics and intelligent hooks. 8/10
I know he has been performing this track for a while, but the recorded version sounds excellent. The lyrics are some of the most thoughtful I think I've ever heard in an Australian hip-hop song, and the slowly building musical backdrop is quality. If he keeps this up, the new LP will be a big deal. 9/10
