Eating with the AU: Tusk Restaurant on Chapel Street (Melbourne)

Picture a cruisy little restaurant with green foliage in the foreground, tables and chairs outside and the inside there is enough room for dining, a small rustic bar and kitchen with a great vibe.

Close to Swinburne University, it no doubt is a busy kitchen as I can see tonight. As I walk in, the first decorative piece I notice on our table is a centrepiece concocting of, no doubt, years of dripping mainly pink candle wax on layers of bottles to bring out a vivid display.

Attentive bar staff take our orders and after a reasonable wait meals are served. The choices on the menu cover people with all sorts of taste even though its not a huge menu. Fourteen meal choices, lots of entrees and seven dessert choices are on offer tonight. Tonight’s meals chosen are Chorizo pizza which tasted fabulous although bit pricey for a pizza, salmon, kangaroo steak where the cous cous made the meal by complementing the steak.

The chicken dish and risotto are the winners tonight with friends letting me know both these dishes get 9/10. The presentation of meals are highly commented on too. It doesn't take long for us to be inspired by the dessert menu and out comes huge chocolate cake, apple crumble and tira misu. Overall the first Tuesday of the month crew gave Tusk 8/10.
