Triple J Unearthed band Mechanical Animals describe themselves as "minimal, three-piece, eclectic, eccentric, electric, two-guys-and-a-front-girl, pop/punk/electro/PoMo set-up, with a penchant for ballistic on-stage theatrics". They consist of Dan Fox - Drums, Eden Swan - Vocals, Jack Rabbit - guitar. Each member takes on the persona of the animal and dresses up as such.

The Revolver gig was their debut CD launch, but also doubled as a birthday celebration for the band and a venue for filming of a video for their new song "Jump the Fence".

The place was packed with people dressed up as bunnies, pussycats and indescrible feathered things (you got in cheap if you dressed up). Some of the  audience had feathers on sticks, that they tickled Swan with if she got close enough.

"Mad Hatter", from their debut single was well recieved with the crowd jumping and writhing along to a song they all appeared to know the words to. Guitarist Rabbit added a huge "mad hatter" style hat that woudn't have looked out of place on Marc Bolan.

Swan was dressed in black lingerie and fishnets with a scarf and, while swigging from a bottle of vodka, told us she was dressed as a moth for the night. It's not often you see a performer add more clothes onstage, but she donned a fur jacket when it came time to film the clip for "Jump the Fence", which was also their last song. The night ended with her lying on the stage among the hands of the sudience and cymbals that had somehow come adrift from the drumkit.
