Ladies and Gentlemen, amazingly enough we're already halfway through another work week (!!), and so I'm here to provide your evening with five fine tunes from three amazing artists. I hope you enjoy!
AMANDA PALMER - "Idioteque"
No, that's NOT Thom Yorke! But you'd be forgiven for thinking it was when Amanda's voice first comes through on this beautiful, faithful cover of the Radiohead classic track. You may know Amanda Palmer best for her work in the Dresden Dolls. But it's her solo work that currently sees her travelling around the world - and this recently included a jaunt down under!
While here, she recorded "AMANDA PALMER PERFORMS THE POPULAR HITS OF RADIOHEAD ON HER MAGICAL UKULELE", due to be released on July 20th. The EP will be released digitally, although a very limited number of vinyl copies will available for purchase through her website. This is the first track to be released off the EP and you can purchase it via the streaming box above! Not bad, eh? Magical? Most certainly. P.S. Radiohead - please tour down here ASAP. kthx.
YOUNG WERTHER - "No One In Their Right Mind"
Here are three fantastic tracks off of Young Werther's breakthrough album Knights of the Department Store. The first, "No One in their Right Mind", is the lead single - and the folks at showoffservices have been kind enough to throw in two bonus tracks for your listening/downloading pleasure. Just hit the down arrow to download the tracks!
Released by Pop Boomerang Records, the album and these tracks were "recorded under the watchful eye and loving hands of Nick Huggins (Skipping Girl Vinegar, Whitley, Kid Sam) in a studio overlooking the mythologically charged MCG". It's a truly remarkable record, and these three tracks are indeed standouts. I particularly love "A Week in Hell", with it's beautiful piano and touching lyrics. Not a bad album to enjoy with a bottle of fine wine!
ERNEST ELLIS - "Want For Anything"
The lead single off of Ernest Ellis' debut Hunting is fantastic! It's stuck in my head already, and the accompanying video is pretty special as well. Like the song - simple but effective. I'm sure there are great things in store for this Sydney artist! If the video isn't enough for you, click here to listen to four tracks off his debut Hunting.
I hope you enjoyed tonight's selections - until tomorrow everyone :)
