F&L News: Three Williams Café pair up with artist Brad Robson to create a gourmet gallery experience (Sydney)

It’s not every day a café patron can add a particular piece of artwork from a renowned artist hanging on the wall to their food bill, just because it happened to take their fancy as they sat there eating a sandwich. Favoured Redfern local Three William’s Café is aiming to give customers just that sort of opportunity, having turned their premises into an experimental art gallery two weeks ago.

One of Australia’s most progressive artist’s Brad Robson has taken over Three Willam’s walls with a display of his largest ever oil paintings as part of Spectrum Now. Having recently returned from an exhibition in New York, Robson aims to utilise the café’s spacious, fresh interior to create a sensory experience with his squeegee based artworks, adding alternating LED downlights to complete the effect.

Three Williams is synonymous for producing delicious, wholesome café fare and house brews. Signature dishes such as The Merchant with chilli fried egg, crispy bacon, ranch dressing and pickled slaw make for a tempting out of the ordinary brekky or one of their special Narnies, house made Naan style flat bread with fillings including slow cooked lamb, beef brisket and pulled pork to be savoured over a leisurely lunch.

The café also boasts an enticing list of freshly made smoothies which range from a dairy free health packed Super Smoothie with kale, apricot, LSA, apple, banana, ginger and cinnamon and a naughtier indulgent Peanut Caramel Shake. There’s also a newly curated wine list which includes beers, ciders and a ‘Pimp Yo Soda’ option entailing a shot of Gin or Vodka, for a really, really chilled start to an afternoon.

Robson’s works are for sale through Three Williams, including a silent auction piece hanging in Willy’s Corner. Having been commissioned for several public and commercial works for places such as SBS Studios Artarmon and Optus Australia (Luna Park mural), it’s apparent that Robson’s vibrant strokes and bold perspective have caught the nation’s eye. With the exhibition running for the next six to eight weeks, now is the opportune time to appreciate and snap up some of his inspired artworks.

Three Williams is located at 613a Elizabeth Street Redfern NSW 2016
