On the Shelf: Mr Black teams up with Campos for a limited edition coffee liqueur

Sydney premium roasters Campos has been a big part of the city’s cafe culture for a long time now, so them teaming up with award-winning cold drip coffee spirit Mr Black comes as some very exciting news, especially for those who like their coffee-based cocktails.

Mr Black, which comes out of a Distillery Botanica in NSW’s Erina, is a gold-medal winning regular when it comes to discussions about leading Australian craft spirits and the benefits of such services as Pozible, which was used to fund the spirit by distiller Phillip Moore and designer Tom Baker. On the other side of the partnership is Campos, a brand that has been around since 2002, producing high quality, speciality coffee first in Newtown and now in several locations up and down Australia’s east coast. They have won numerous awards, including a double-win of The Lifestyle Channel’s Australia’s Favourite Coffee Award.

Served in the same seek and sexy bottle of the original Mr Black, the Mr Black x Campos is 700ml of rich coffee liqueur, drawing upon the robust, finessed Kenya Tchakakhani Single Origin beans which are used to create this blend. The palate is dark, intense, and earthy with strong notes of blackcurrant and dark chocolate, which makes it ideal for a powerful Espresso Martini or the Signature Serve created by The Barber Shop bartender Karel ‘Papi’ Reyes.

Reyes’ Signature Serve, the #1 Coffee is made with the following:

  • 25ml Mr Black x Campos
  • 40ml Bacardi Carta Blanca
  • 15ml Apricot Brandy
  • 1 barspoon of Black Cherry Jam
  • 20ml espresso
  • Grated nutmeg to garnish
  • Shake all ingredients, strain into a chilled coupe

Mr Black x Campos is available for an RRP of $80. To purchase the strictly limited blend head to mrblack.com/campos and for more information head to facebook.com/MrBlackSpirits
