the AU interview: Seji/Guitar Wolf from Guitar Wolf (Japan)

Seji the Guitar Wolf himself answered a few brief questions about the Japanese punk band's impending tour, how the hell they've managed to stay active for 25 years and his undying love for rock and roll.

The last time Guitar Wolf played Australian shows was 2007; what took you so long to come back!?

I have had cyborg surgeries.

Why should people come and see Guitar Wolf?

Don't come to see us without hearing this warning seriously. Take rabies shot before the shows.

You’re playing the Tote’s 30th Anniversary; how do you plan to wish the Tote a happy birthday?

Tote's is one of the greatest rock club of the world. That's for sure. It's our great pleasure for us to celebrate the Anniversary with you. We're going to think of a grand plan.

Next year marks Guitar Wolf’s own special anniversary of 25 years; how do you plane to celebrate?

Yes, it's been 25 years. We haven't noticed it until recently. There's no specific plan at this moment, but I think something will happen.

Guitar Wolf has been through some tough times, such as the passing of your bassist Billy/Bass Wolf in 2005. What is the key to Guitar Wolf’s longevity?

A lot of things have happened in the past. It's just like fire of Rock is still burning inside of us. That's all.

‘Spacebattleshiplove’; where did the name of the tour come from?

I'm always watching the universe. Then, I see it. I see that huge and fierce love of the universe like a giant space battleship is coming toward me. Giant love and Rock of spacebatteship is now coiming to you, too.

How stinky can a Guitar Wolf leather jacket get after a tour?

After a tour, our leather jackets become very toxic and lethal. We usually donate the jackets to a slaughter house.

After the Australian shows, where are you headed next?

US tour is coming next after the Australian tour, then EU tour. But I want to write new songs, too. When I'm on the road, I'm inspired.

Can we expect any new Guitar Wolf releases in the near future?

Of course!

I read that you are looking for a sponsor for the sequel of Wild Zero, any luck? Any other film appearances in the works?

We're looking for a producer as well. Actually I'm waiting for an offer for a role of 007 from Hollywood. It's not coming easy.

Aside from destroying every Australian stage you’ll be playing this December, is there anything you want to get done during your time down here?

Nothing special. We just want to let our wildness go free like beasts. We are not that far from you now. We're coming down soon. Look forward to seeing us.
