About to hit our shores are Canada's Final Flash. They're playing quite a lot of shows around the country, kicking off with One Movement Festival in Perth in early October. In anticipation of the tour, Jennifer Peterson-Ward shot off a few questions to the band, and this is what lead singer Joey Chaperon Cyr sent back to us, caps lock and all. Enjoy!
For readers who aren’t familiar with Final Flash, could you please describe your sound in a few words?
IT'S TOO HARD FOR A BAND TO DESCRIBE IS OWN SOUND. WE ONLY KNOW WHAT WE LISTEN TO.
Your sound has strongly been identified with the term “psy-folk,” is this a label you identify with or try to perpetuate?
THE LABEL? THEY DONT KNOW ABOUT MUSIC, THE PROOF IS THAT THEY SIGNED US...
Your LP Homeless is about to be released here in Australia, what was the vision for the album?
I DONT REMEMBER MAN... ITS BEEN A LONG TIME. WE JUST CAME UP WITH SONGS WE LIKE...
Is there a particular tune off Homeless that you are most proud of? Why?
NO, WE’RE PROUD OF ALL OF THEM
Were there any strong influences (musical or otherwise) which directly shaped Homeless?
NOT REALLY, WE LIKE MUSIC IN GENERAL.
The record was produced by the Besnard Lakes’ talented frontman Jace Lasek - what was it like working with him?
WE HAD SUCH A SIMILAR WAY TO SEE THINGS... IT WAS PERFECT. HE TOTALLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT WE WANTED. MOST OF THE TIME WE WOULD HAVE THE EXACT SAME IDEA AT THE SAME TIME. PLUS, SINCE JACE IS ALMOST 60, HE HAS A LOT OF EXPERIENCE EVEN THOUGH HE'S NOT THAT LUCID ANYMORE.

WE JUST PLAY LIKE WE LIVE, WE'RE UNHAPPY AND PISSED. F.T.W.

WE'RE NOT AWARE OF WHO'S PLAYING, BUT WE'RE LOOKING FOWARD TO GET SURPRISED!

SEX, DRUGS AND ROCK N' ROLL.... WHAT ABOUT BOOZE?
Lastly, what are your plans for the next 12 months?
PLAY SHIT TONS OF SHOWS, WRITE NEW STUFF, HAVE FUN, MAKE LOVE AND MANY MORE.
