1. You've had a massive year so far with everything you're touching seemingly turning to gold. How would you describe your music to someone who's never heard it before?
Umm, I guess my music sounds like an ex-hiphop producer who grew up in the 80's, fell in love with 70's rock bands, and loves to write pop tunes.
2. Some of our readers might remember you from your time with Fast Crew - and according to reports things came to a bitter end in 2007. What happened?
Things didn't become bitter at all, I was desperate for a change and was really into exploring my capabilities musically, which ultimately led me in a different direction. We had a great run as the crew.
3. Did you ever have a feeling early on that your career might head more towards performing solo?
It was always my intention to be a solo artist, but I love the dynamic of the band. I have a new band that I travel with now, who are also my best buds, so we have a blast!
4. Your new single 'Don't Know What To Do' is about to be released over here in Oz - is there a story behind the tune?
“Don't Know What to Do" sounds like a love song.. but it is really about my love/hate relationship with music. Being in the industry for the past 11 years, I have seen both the incredible highs, and the painfully real low's of the game.. No matter what I do, I'm always drawn to it.. so I guess I will never stop creating!
5. What have been the main influences (musical or otherwise) on the crafting of your sound?
A Canadian artist called K-OS ultimately inspired me to search outside hiphop for musical satisfaction..but I draw inspiration from all kinds of music from Led Zepp to The Black Keys, to Bob Marley to Jay-Z to U2 to Rage Against the Machine.....could be here all day. I also seem to write well when my life is a mess, as cliche as that is.
6. You've supported massive headline acts like Missy Elliot and the Potbelleez. As a solo performer if you could collaborate with anyone on your next album, who would you choose and why?
I would love to collab with Gaga.. who wouldn't? But also Kanye and Jigga would be top of the list for sure.
7. You've already conquered NZ and you're well on your way to doing the same over here in Australia - where are you planning on taking your sound next?
Next stop the UK? Possibly Japan? But I love Oz, if I could tour around there for the rest of my days I'd be happy.
8. Where would you like to be in twelve months time?
Have another album under my belt!! Hopefully have experienced more of the world too.
