Get to know Perth's Pat Chow ahead of WAM Festival 2014

This Thursday night the WAM Festival kicks off in Perth for 2014, showcasing the best music of WA – as well as a few guests from Singapore and Shanghai! We’re going to take some time to get to know a few of the WA Music Awards nominees and performers! Next up we have Pat Chow, playing the Opening Night Party and nominated for three WA Music Awards!

Tell us who you are, what band you’re in, and how you came to be a part of the band…

My name is Ben Protasiewicz, I play guitar and sing for Pat Chow. Pat Chow came about from a solo project id been fooling around with for years. It all became a bit more serious with a some actual band members and a name change.

What do the WAM nominations mean to you?

It’s really nice to be acknowleged! I got all emotional and shit when we found out. Was a big surprise.

What can we expect from your set at WAM?

We’ll be pulling shapes, that’s for sure. Pulling shapes all up in your face.

What excites you about the Perth music scene and how do you think it fits amongst the scenes in the rest of the country?

There are so many A grade bands! The best thing is the distinct lack of dolewave and a very prominent alt vibe.

Tell us what’s coming up next for you and the band…

We’re recording our first album at the moment! We did all the demos for it last week and are booking time at Blackbird with Dave Parkin to do it!
