X-Files revival premiere date announced

X-Files-David-Duchovny

It’s official: the resuscitation of beloved sci-fi series The X-Files will take place in January 2016.

US network Fox has announced that the six-episode revival of the beloved cult series will begin on Sunday, 24 January 2016, with the second episode screening on Monday, 25 January, and then continuing on for four more weekly episodes.

Actors Gillian Anderson (most recently seen in BBC drama The Fall) and David Duchovny (Californication) will reunite as FBI Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder. “We’re very excited about this,” said Fox co-chairman Dana Walden. “It’s going to be a huge reward for fans of this legendary show. It’s taken us a very long time to get [the actors and series creator Chris Carter] back together.”2

The show originally screened on Fox from 1993 to 2002 and spawned two films. The new series will be written by series creator Chris Carter, and begins production in June.
