MORE ABOUT THIS TOUR AND ARTIST:
Florence + The Machine is without a doubt one of the hottest acts touring Australia this year, with tickets for her Sydney and Melbourne Splendour In The Grass side shows selling out in no time, and a Perth sell out is imminent.
When the August side show concert dates went on sale just ten days ago, tickets for Melbourne's Festival Hall show were exhausted in less than 30 minutes. Sydney went on sale with two Enmore Theatres at 9:00am, sold out, and within 10 minutes, a third show was announced. That too sold out within minutes of going on sale at 9:30am.
Florence Welch is a clearly woman in demand, and co-promoters Chugg Entertainment, Lunatic Entertainment and Thirteenth Touring have spent the past week in discussions with her management team, looking for ways and means to answer the pleas of the fans that missed out. The great news for Sydney and Melbourne fans was confirmed late last week.
One final show for Sydney will take place at the Hordern Pavilion on Sunday 8 August, and a second and final show for Melbourne, at Festival Hall on Monday 2 August. Tickets for these two shows will go on sale at 9am on Tuesday 8 June, along with a handful of additional seats that will be released for the currently sold out Festival Hall show.
The requests for more shows came from across the East Coast as well as from a passionate group of fans that started an online petition, lobbying for a show in their hometown of Adelaide. Unfortunately Florence, who was humbled by the incredible response to these shows, was unable to extend her stay to add an Adelaide performance following her final show in Perth, but has committed to visiting South Australia on her next tour.
"I'm so excited to be coming back to Australia, and when I heard the news of these shows selling out so quickly I couldn't believe it. My Australian fans are amazing. I heard about the petitions in Adelaide too, which is so lovely. I wish I could have stayed longer to play there but sadly I have other commitments which mean that I have to leave straight after the show in Perth. I'll make sure I play Adelaide next time I tour Australia." Welch said.
There will be no further shows for Florence's 2010 tours once these tickets have been snapped up, so set your watches for 9am, Tuesday 8 June, you don't want to be a second late.

There's no two ways about it; Australia has fallen hard for Florence + the Machine. Since her debut tour as this year's St Jerome's Laneway Festival headline act, the passion with which local fans have flocked to be a part of the Florence + the Machine experience, has been electric. Never one to disappoint, Florence returns to Australia this July for an encore tour that promises to be nothing short of spectacular.
The Florence + the Machine return tour begins at Australia's premiere winter festival, Splendour in the Grass, at their brand new festival site in Woodford, Queensland, to play to the masses on Saturday 31st July. She then moves on to Melbourne for a performance at Festival Hall on Tuesday 3rd August and finishes her East Coast run at Sydney's Enmore Theatre on Thursday 5th August. From there, Florence and her band head west to Perth for their final Australian show at Challenge Stadium on Tuesday 10th August.
Tickets for all shows go on sale through the usual outlets on Friday 21st May, and are set to be one of the hottest concert tickets of the year. Florence's Laneway Festival side shows sold out in a matter of minutes, with more shows added and venues upgraded to contain the hungry masses, so heed the warning this time around and get in quick!
Flo began her gentle assault on Australia as an indie darling, and she has since broken through onto radio airwaves across the country and has already set herself up as one of the worlds next female superstars.
In triple j's nationwide survey of the best songs of 2009, Florence + the Machine not only scored a top ten spot with Dog Days Are Over, but featured throughout the Hottest 100, with fans also voting in Rabbit Heart and Kiss with a Fist worthy contenders for song of the year. The 2009 release "Lungs" has been wholly embraced worldwide, with the BBC calling it "sheer gleeful bliss", and Mojo exclaiming, "This is a brave, bold...record from the kind of talent we should be ecstatically happy to have around". A new two disc plus bonus video tour edition of the album is out through Universal Music on the winter tour's on sale date, Friday 21May.
Off the back of such a stellar debut Down Under, and heavy duty international festival commitments performing at Coachella, Glastonbury, Roskilde and the Primavera Sound Festival to name a few, Florence Welch is a woman in demand. In spite of a whirlwind European tour and over a million albums sold in the UK alone, Florence and the Machine still recognises the boundless passion Australian fans have shown for her.
In July, we are broadening the scope, enlisting bigger venues and welcoming a growing legion of fans to engage with Florence + the Machine on a whole new level. Starring on yet another celebrated Australian music festival line up and playing a bunch of knock out headline shows, this sweet sounding love affair is about to really fire up.
