Bigger. Brighter. Bolder: Just three words to nail the irresistible sound of hot Adelaide quartet Lowrider’s second album, Round the World – due out July 9.
 
Having forged a reputation as one of the most extraordinary bands to emerge from Australia in recent years, and with one critically acclaimed album already under their belt (“This album is one of those rare gems of Australian music. Lowrider make the sort of music that the giants of the pop world go to bed dreaming about”, Sauce), the foursome of Paul Bartlett (drums/beats), brother John (piano/keys), Joe Braithwaite (vocals) and Scott Duncan (bass) are at the top their game and ready to take their unique blend of soul and funk to the world.
 
The first single, Here We Go (available digitally May 28), is an irresistible invitation to the party (“come right in and take a beer, it’s all on us!”). From the outset when the dusty jazz intro gets stomped by the hard hitting beat and the brash, barking brass of New York’s legendary Chops Horns, its evident that Lowrider have returned a bigger, bolder, more confident version of themselves …and there’s no stopping now.
 
Word of Lowrider’s debut LP spread far and wide, establishing a host of fans from across the globe – including a number of acclaimed musicians keen to collaborate on the album’s follow-up. Round the World was mixed by sonic guru Jason Goldstein, (who won a Grammy for Beyonce’s B’Day album as well as handling Jay-Z’s masterpiece The Blueprint) and mastered by Dave Kutch (The Roots, Erykah Badu, Al Green). With that kind of overseas credibility and clout on board, Lowrider is poised to once again capture the attention of music lovers of all ages, stages and flavours in Australia and beyond.
 
To celebrate their upcoming release, Lowrider will take their infamous live show on the road for the first time in 2010. Unanimously heralded as one of the most mesmerising live acts in Australia, Lowrider have supported some of the biggest acts in Australia and the world (Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Lupe Fiasco). Since their formation, Lowrider quickly established themselves as a band that music lovers absolutely need to experience in the flesh.
