Sydney Pop-Up: Grey Goose's Salon at Vine - Double Bay


Double Bay's Vine paints a pretty picture on most days with an Eastern suburban feel against a soothing evening backdrop, but when paired with a French inspired pop-up bar, the vibe is taken to the next level just as the sun begins to set. I scored an early invite to the Grey Goose's Salon at Vine pop-up, featuring the ultimate canapés and Grey Goose cocktails set against a French Riviera-inspired décor, previewing the temporary bar that will be at the restaurant until January 31st 2016.

Double Bay's Niji Restaurant & Bar have launched a new menu in preparation for spring, maintaining the dedication to high quality contemporary Japanese dining which has seen them become one of the most popular restaurants in the area's Bay Street strip. Going for a more mature look and feel than the Kingsford venue of the same name, Niji Double Bay has stood strong ever since it opened early last year with stylish dark wood paneling and barrel-vault wood celing, a sushi bar towards the back, and a small cocktail bar towards the front.

The charming 'gourmet pantry' aesthetic of Stockroom, the restaurant in InterContinental Sydney Double Bay, is fun and speaks to the venue's strong commitment to quality, locally sourced ingredients as well as Double Bay's strong farming legacy. The design also makes for the perfect platform for a decadent brunch buffet that really is like raiding the pantry, with platters of seafood, meats, sweets, breakfast options, and pastries covering the Stockroom. Dubbed the Perrier-Jouët Sunday Soiree, Stockroom has taken the concept of leisurely lunch and perfected it.

Surely by now you've heard of the shiny new InterContinental Double Bay that has propped up in the historical location that was the former Ritz Carlton. The dazzling brilliance of the design and concepts found within this hotel are continuing to grow as their retail section beings to open up this year. We already took you to their excellent restaurant Stockroom, but now we want to focus on the main bar at the hotel, just around the corner from reception. It's a concept bar, focusing tightly on Gin and exploring the incredible diversity the spirit has inspired. It's quite simply one of the best, if not the best, drinking experiences I've had in Sydney.

Double Bay restaurant Pink Salt, which first caught Australia’s attention in series two of My Restaurant Rules back in 2005 (it is the brainchild of contestants Evan and Bella), recently re-opened to reveal a brand new look – its been completely renovated, plus there’s a new menu and head chef in Mark Williamson, who’s worked at hip Sydney venues including Bondi Hardware and The Tilbury.

And so it beings. The slice of life that will be on offer at Double Bay - and Sydney's - most exciting new venue is just about ready to unleash itself upon foodies, travellers, and shoppers alike. The soon-to-be-opened InterContinental Sydney Double Bay has been a massive project, revitalising the bayside grounds, that were once the iconic Ritz Carlton, for something that balances heritage with a contemporary charm. Food is just one of the facets of the new hotel, but it's a major part of why not just those seeking accommodation have been all over the development. In addition to a third leg of Australian contemporary-Japanese gem Sake, and a new venture from North Bondi's gorgeous Shuk, there will be a unique European-style open pantry which flows into a plush restaurant area going by the name of Stockroom. I was honoured to be invited along to try the menu at Stockroom, while also being one of the first to set foot inside this luxurious hotel.

National modelling management agency Edge Modelsrecently celebrated their third birthday party in the kind of fashion one would expect from a glamorous and reputable brand. Teaming up with Patrón Tequila and Mr Pink Ginseng Drink, Edge Models took over Double Bay venue Casablanca with over 250 guests to party in the name of both longevity and charity organisation Batyr, a crucial foundation aimed at engaging, educating, and empowering young people to speak out about mental health issues.
