The Last 5 Years: Spender (Sydney)

the AU review turned five years old earlier this month, and to celebrate, throughout the month of August we’re asking many of our music industry friends to help us look back on the last five years of music! Next we catch up with Tommy Spender, who looks back on his top five musical moments of the last five years…

My top five music moments from the last five years…

1. Releasing my EP after a long bunch of work that I refer to as “pushing my piano across the beach”

2. Having my Film Clip Never Again featured on my favourite uber nerdy blog BOING BOING and subsequently 35,000 views in 2 days

3. Finding an amazing manager after years of wondering lost through multi level carpark of this here music industry

4. Getting an endorsement from Gibson Guitars in Paris and getting to choose the guitar of my dreams, my ebony 335.

5. Recording my song “One Night Upon A Cold Rooftop” in a large white room with the stunningly talented pianist Monique DiMattina, Mama Kin on vocals and a 10 piece women’s choir and having it filmed by the enormously talented film maker wilk there to capture the performance. Hair raising on ones arm type stuff.
