'Rock the Gate' - why one music concert is taking over Enmore Road this November.

This November, a stellar group of musicians are coming together in Sydney for what looks set to be a great day and night of live music. 'Rock the Gate', featuring the likes of Pete Murray and The Herd, will be taking over the Enmore Theatre on the 23rd, but the music is set to continue outside and down Enmore Road, with the busy cafe and business strip coming to the table and taking part in what's going to be a huge street party. This all sounds good, but why? Well, 'Rock the Gate' isn't just about providing Sydneysiders some good times on a Sunday, it's also about shedding light on and raising awareness about a serious issue many Australians now face, but may know little about.

The concert, presented by UPLIFT and Lock the Gate, supports the rural communities trying to protect their lands from unconventional gas mining and fracking. It's an issue which has been growing more and more in importance in recent years and the people who have been actively campaigning against Coal Seam Gas mining. Currently, a new CSG plan threatens the Hunter Valley and Illawarra Catchment near Sydney and while the anti-CSG movements has been successful in stopping fracking operations in the past, it's obvious that the wider Australian community needs to know more about how the planet is being negatively affected in this way. What better way to spread a message but to hold the country's biggest concert for the cause?

'Rock the Gate' features an eclectic line up of musicians, each representing different strands of sound and influence, but all joined in the same idea and determination to spread the anti-fracking message. Outside the Enmore, there will be satellite venues will be broadcasting a diverse mix of music down Enmore Road, everything from alt-country to jazz, from electro to the blues! The main line up inside the venue includes:

PETE MURRAY
THE HERD
ASH GRUNWALD
NATALIE PAA'APA'A
