My Playlist: Wax Witches' Ten Favourite Tracks (Right Now)

We first got to know Alex Wall as one-third of Brisbane’s Bleeding Knees Club. Then he delivered his impressive solo effort as Wax Witches, which has seen him move to New York City to develop the project. Alex will be returning to Australia next week, however, for BIGSOUND and some solo Wax Witches shows – in support of his new album Centre Of Your Universe.

As we look forward to his return, Alex took some time to share with us the tracks that he’s loving right now. Click on the links below to enjoy the ten tracks he chose, and you can read through his reasons after! And don’t miss the man himself on tour – the dates are at the end of this article.

together PANGEA – “Badillac”

These guys are one of the best garage-punk bands around. Both their albums are crazy good and their live show is pretty great.

The Garden – “Crystal Clear”

We played a show at The Smell in LA with these guys at the start of the year. They have the most original and entertaining live vibe you will see.

Sunflower Bean – “Tame Impala”

This is a local New York band. I love them. I’ve seen them a bunch of times and they just keep getting better. I guarantee they will blow up in the next year.

No Parents – “Hey Illuminati”

These are my best homies from LA. They shred harder live then anyone. If I could tour with anyone it would be these guys.

DOM – “My Drug Buddy”

He released this Lemonheads cover just recently. It’s real good!

No Age – “An Impression”

I like the lyrics in this song. It’s cool too for No Age to have a nice chill song.

Ringo Deathstarr – “Swirly”

One of my favourite new-ish shoegaze bands! All their albums are good.

Porno For Pyros – “Pets”

My manager showed me this song a few years ago and I’ve been obsessed ever since.

Gap Dream – “My Other Man”

This is a fellow Burger Records homie. Such a talented guy. He is coming out to Australia this month. Everyone should check him out.

Antwon – “Dying In The Pussy”

My favourite rapper from LA right now. He’s also coming to Australia this month.
