I got the opportunity to talk to bassist James McNew on the 23rd anniversary of his first rehearsal with the band, a fact that genuinely surprised him. We also talked about the recent WFMU marathon, where the band plays any song requested by listeners pledging $100 or more, and an upcoming, yet to be determined archival release to commemorate their 30 year achievement.

While J Mascis enjoyed a sold-out solo tour of Australia earlier in 2012, it's about time his band Dinosaur Jr had a shot at performing to the Australian crowds! Cat Power set for Golden Plains 7; Ballot is now open!

Chan Marshall the gorgeous singer also known as Cat Power has been announced as the first act on the Golden Plains 7 line up. Taking place at the Meredith Supernatural Ampitheatre in March 2013, Golden Plains 7 is promising an excellent autumn festival atmosphere!

The ballot for the 2013 festival is also open from today, through www.goldenplains.com.au and punters are advised to get involved quickly as these spots will not be open for long.
