Red Bull Music Academy announces special free showcase for ARIA week

Oh ARIA week, how we love thee. There's a bunch of free music events celebrating Australian music coming up real soon, flipping Sydney into a platform for some of the best established and rising talent the scene has to offer - both local and international. Never a purveyor to sit something like this out, the reputable Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) are fixing to host a FREE showcase in at The X Studio in Kings Cross with some of the best and brightest in innovative electronic music.

Melbourne's Gossling leads the second announcement of artists joining the Kings Cross IGNITE event in Sydney as part of ARIA Week! Taking place at various venues along the iconic strip, IGNITE will be a highlight event of ARIA Week, with the focus being on revitalising the live music scene in Kings Cross. The line up of 40 Australian artists has been curated by Louis Schoorl, APRA's 2014 Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year, and is a great representative of the diverse pool of musical talent Australia currently has.

Triple J Unearthed is an indelible and unique asset of the Australian music scene; since its launch it has become a platform on which the abundance of talent in Australia can kick-start their careers, and it has allowed us - as music fans - to discover some truly incredible artists. ARIA Week Review: EMI Presents Alison Wonderland + Leah Mencel + Fishing + Owl Eyes - The Standard, Sydney (29.11.13)

For such a small person, Alison Wonderland commands a large space. Stationed between two giant, flashing cubes, she bounces behind the decks -emblazoned with AW- hands darting furiously around the mixer. Underneath her, around her, around everywhere, the beat pulses – loud... bone shatteringly loud. It’s about fifty minutes into her DJ set into her 1 hr 30 min set, and she’s showing no sign of slowing down. A bottle of vodka stands by her left elbow.

Music and madness were in the air during An Excuse To Get Loose, the Island Records ARIA Week showcase. The Oxford Art Factory was dimly lit, the drinks were out, music was blaring and the room was buzzing with anticipation for The Cairos, Chance Waters and Andy Bull to grace the stage with their unique and diverse sounds.
