Indonesia AirAsia Extra (IAX) announce direct flights between Melbourne and Bali with one way fares from $99.

It was announced last week that Indonesia AirAsia Extra (IAX) – an affiliate of AirAsiaX Berhad (AirAsia X) and the first long-haul low-cost carrier in Indonesia – will be commencing its maiden route on 26th December 2014, with 5 weekly flights planned to connect Melbourne with Bali.

One way economy flights are starting with an “all-in-fare” of $99* and tickets are on sale now from http://www.airasia.com/. Business Class seats are also available at a competitive low-cost promo fare, with $499* tickets launching the product. Flights depart daily in each direction, with the exception of Mondays and Thursdays.

The announcement was made by Indonesia AirAsia Extra CEO, Soeratman Doerachman in Jakarta, Indonesia and representing the shareholders, Azran Osman-Rani in Melbourne, Australia today. Indonesia AirAsia Extra is the second off-shore hub, following the successful set-up of Thai AirAsia X Co. Ltd, and is in line with AirAsia X’s strategy of offering a comprehensive network with seamless connectivity.

Soeratman Doerachman said, “We are thrilled to be the first long-haul low-cost airline in Indonesia and enthusiastic with the launch of our first route. Now Indonesians can enjoy the beautiful capital and populous city in the state of Victoria; and experience what Melbourne has to offer with our low fares. We are also happy to provide more options for Australians to discover the beauty of Asia by a hassle-free connection from Bali to various destinations within the AirAsia Group.”

Azran Osman-Rani said, “We are super excited with the official launch of Indonesia AirAsia Extra today. Our strategy of focusing and dominating our core markets in North Asia and Australia moves to a higher level with our regional expansion in Thailand previously and now Indonesia. Our investment in neighbouring hubs where established short haul feeder networks are in place, allows us to triple our size without even adding a new market”.

“Foreign tourist arrivals into Bali increased more than 13% last year compared to the previous year with Australian being the highest contributor with more than 25%. We are confident this route will grow even further with our low fares” added Azran.

AirAsia X was the first long-haul, low fare carrier to introduce Business Class Flatbed seats, which have standard business class specifications of 20” width, 60” pitch and stretch out to 77” in full recline position.

The business class seat feature universal power sockets, adjustable headrests and built-in personal utilities such as tray table, drink holder, reading light and privacy screen. Business class seat guests also enjoy premium complimentary products and services including Pick A Seat, Priority Check-in, Priority Boarding, Priority Baggage, 40kg Baggage Allowance, Complimentary Meal & drinks and Pillow & Duvet.
