169 Darlinghurst is offering high-quality, organic food and classic cocktails above Tatler (Sydney)

Iconic and entertaining Darlinghurst venue Tatler now includes new hotspot, 169 Darlinghurst, situated above the popular Sydney haunt. Tim Clark, who established Tatler, was also behind this new venture.

Overlooking one of the city’s most eclectic neighbourhoods, 169 Darlinghurst, a café, bar and nightclub, showcases a menu full of seasonal Australian produce with strong Japanese, Spanish and regional American influences. Dishes feature a mix of high-quality, organic and locally-produced ingredients, but also a decadent brunch selection, shared plates and apéritifs.

Christopher Thomas and Byron Woolfrey of Trolley’d (mobile/pop-up bar service) are be responsible for the drinks menu. Sustainability, as well as native and organic ingredients sourced from local farms, will feature prominently in their drinks selection. There are new twists on traditional cocktail favourites, using boutique distillers and seasonal spirits. The wine menu will rotate, and craft beers, served in large format bottles, will serve as the perfect companion to food.

In terms of design, the interior of 169 Darlinghurst will draw from its vibrant location and exotic menu. Designed with Tony Assness (celebrated creative behind the launch of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge event), the venue will capitalise on its terrace space, northerly sun and large arched windows. Artworks by Sydney artist George Raftopoulos dominate the walls of 169 Darlinghurst, showcasing his autobiographical paintings that reach for universal themes of hope, longing, fear and desire.
