Five shows not to be missed at Sydney Comedy Festival 2015

With the Sydney Comedy Festival now well and truly underway, we’re bringing you a list of the five comedic performances that you won’t want to miss at this year’s festival. Now in its 11th year, the event is the biggest it has ever been, and though it goes without saying that you need to see the likes of Noel Fielding, here are some of the other names on the lineup who are unmissable…

Ronny Chieng

My favourite Australian comedian and quickly becoming a nation-favourite. Chieng’s popularity is soaring with his 22-show season completely selling out last year. For a full list of his too-many-to-list achievements go here: http://www.ronnychieng.com/about – Brad Coles

The Stevenson Experience

“Who Dares Twins” is a banter-filled musical act comprised of identical twins Ben and James Stevenson and looks like it will be a highlight of the festival! – Helen Scheuerer

When? 30th April and 2nd May at 7pm
Where? The Enmore Theatre

One Man Breaking Bad

Part hilarity, part “how on earth does he do that?”, the “One Man” in question is LA actor Miles Allen, who leads us through the entire 60 episodes of cult TV sensation Breaking Bad in a one hour performance. We’re not sure he takes a breath. Fans of the show need apply – but Spoiler Alert! Obviously. All your favourites will be there! Walter White, Jesse, Saul, Skyler, Hank, Walt Junior, Mike and Gus Fring. All embodied in the one man…

Dave Thornton

….because he’s a funny, Aussie, everyday sort of bloke you can imagine slapping on the back and sharing a beer with as he offers up the funnies. – Natalie Salvo

When? 8th May at 7pm
Where? The Comedy Store

The Thrilling Adventure Hour

If you’ve never listened to Ben Acker and Ben Blacker’s genius podcast, now is the time. The live show, equal parts parody of and loving homage to the heyday of radio serials, sees Acker and Blacker gather a slew of their celebrity friends to act out their latest script live on stage. Comprised of “shows” like Sparks Nevada: Marshall on Mars, Phillip Fathom: Deep Sea Detective, Desdemona Hughes: Diva Detective and Jefferson Reid: Ace American, the show is a hilarious, modern take on the aged formula that somehow, despite the amount of episodes Acker and Blacker have churned out, manages to stay fresh and topical.

For comedy fans looking for something different, this is the show to catch. For fans, this is you last and possibly only chance to catch the show either in Australia or anywhere before Acker and Blacker bring it to an end later this year. – David Smith

When? 15th at 9pm and 16th of May at 9.30pm
Where? The Concourse / The Enmore Theatre
Tickets: http://www.sydneycomedyfest.com.au/single-event?show_id=1010
