We catch up with Perth's Young Revelry backstage at the 2011 Festival of the Sun in Port Macquarie.

Check one, two… Festival of the Sun is back to finetune your summer, with 3,000 mates, a surfside location and a rocking homegrown line-up.

As part of Young Revelry's national tour I went down to FBI's new permanent venue FBI Social. Located on the second floor of the Kings Cross Hotel, it honestly felt like a strange place to be watching bands perform being the Cross and all, but once you step through the doors: the cosy atmosphere, cheerful ambience and general good cheer easily overwhelms and all that stereotyping gets thrown out the window.

NEW WA TOUR DATES ADDED!

Firstly, my apologies to the first three acts on the bill for ‘Boys vs Girls’, a night where the battle lines of live music were (roughly) divided along gender lines. Initially put off leaving my house by the incessant rain, I arrived at the Annandale Hotel late, missing Betty Airs, Creepers & Bonney Read.

Perth’s Young Revelry are experimenters at heart. They are not your typical production-line indie rock band. On the snowballing success of their debut EP, You & I, Young Revelry have announced a run of national tour dates through March and April.
