Live Review: Yacht Club DJs + Cabin Cults - Jive, Adelaide (28.11.14)

The Yacht Club DJs have been a strong part of the Australian party fabric for as long as I can remember. The first memory I have of them is a stage invasion they prompted at Parklife one year. The first proper time I saw the Ballarat duo was at The Gov, I think, which was a hectic evening of music all its own. Gaz and Guy's visits to Adelaide have always resulted in good times, regardless of whether they're playing sets at festivals or in smaller clubs up the city's grimy West End. Their final shows around the country, 'The Hooroo Tour', saw the twosome put up in Jive for a two night run, having sold out the first show in good timing, with the second almost hitting capacity as well.

the AU interview: Gaz Harrison of Yacht Club DJs (Ballarat) on their final tour and what lay ahead.

If you've been following the Yacht Club DJs around for the last few years, you're most likely going to have your own memories of their live show. Perhaps you've been onstage with them at Parklife. Or maybe you've streaked across their stage. Or hell, maybe you've just been too drunk to remember exactly what went down at their show, but you know you had a killer time all the same. In a few weeks, the Ballarat duo are going to be heading around the country to do it all again, but this time it's for the last time. The 'Hooroo! Tour' will be Yacht Club's swan song and before they begin their victory lap around Australia, I had a long overdue catch up with Gaz Harrison to see how things were faring.

Yacht Club DJs announce final tour of the country before calling it quits at the end of 2014.

Australian party-heads, you've got one final chance to get down with the Yacht Club DJs before they pack up their decks, laptops and general knack for making some excellent jams at the end of the year. The mash-up heroes have announced their final tour, which will see them hit venues around Australia from October right through into December: the only thing you need to do is bring the ruckus.

the AU interview: Gaz Harrison of Yacht Club DJs (Ballarat) on 'Oddity Number 5', touring and new original material!

I'm still not quite sure what day or timezone I'm in when Gaz Harrison, one half of Ballarat's Yacht Club DJs phones me up. Luckily for my jet lagged self, he's also not in a good place either. This seems to be a common mood between us, so at least it's a familiar one. We're either partied out, or well on our way to being so when we've crossed paths and considering we're chatting today about the duo's upcoming tour and their new Oddity Number 5 mixtape, I shouldn't really surprised that it's a Wednesday afternoon and we're both feeling worse for wear.

Live Review: Yacht Club DJs + Step-Panther - Rocket Bar, Adelaide (05.04.13)

Last night I turned 23. Sure, it wasn’t a milestone year to be celebrated, but all the same, I felt the need to be partying and party hard I did. As if the powers that be were switched on, it just so happened that the Adelaide stop of Yacht Club DJs’ “Mayhem Tour” fell on my birthday and once I had found this out, well, I knew where I would inevitably end up.
