the AU interview: Alex Sowinski from BADBADNOTGOOD (Toronto) talk Sour Soul, Wu-Tang, Jazz Fusion, and more

BADBADNOTGOOD have cemented themselves as a creative force to be reckoned over the past couple years with their powerful fusion of instrumental jazz and hip hop. Ahead of the release of Sour Soul, a new collaborative album with Ghostface Killah, the AU Review had a chance to chat with Alex (drums) about recording in an analog studio, the happy marriage between jazz and hip hop and why Wu-Tang is forever.

Single Stream: Wu-Tang Clan "A Better Tomorrow" (2014)

Following their brilliant performance on Letterman earlier this week, iconic rap collective Wu-Tang Clan have released the title track from their long-awaited new album A Better Tomorrow, recreating the famous "Wake Up Everybody" by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes and Teddy Pendergrass with their own signature style. Method Man opens the track with one of his slickest verses in awhile, while all emcees spit fiery, socially conscious verses in their usual highly technical bravado.

Single Stream: Wu-Tang Clan "Ruckus In B Minor" (2014)

With the iconic hip hop collective's 20th anniversary this year, Wu-Tang Clan are planning on releasing a new record entitled A Better Tomorrow on December 2nd. The lead single from the project has already dropped ("Ron O'Neal") as well as another track ("Keep Watch") but now it's time for us to get our third taste of what is shaping up to be a true return to form for the often splintered, legendary group. With "Ruckus In B Minor" there's a much more soulful sound, bringing things back to their classic tracks as the song plays out as yet another lessons in technical side of mafioso rap. Wu-Tang Clan to Join Florence & The Machine at the Coke Live Music Festival in Krakow!

Krakow's Coke Live Music Festival has just announced the addition of Wu-Tang Clan to the line-up along with a bevy of talented female performers. Already announced are Florence and The Machine, Franz Ferdinand and Biffy Clyro.

Now joining them are Regina Spektor, Katy B and Brodka, all musical femme fatales in their own right. This will be a diverse and interesting two day festival with more to be announced I'm sure.

The Festival d'été de Québec, Canada's largest outdoor music festival, is taking place again this July 4-14.
