Tkay Maidza has been going from strength to strength of late, and tonight truly showed what this pocket powerhouse is capable of. She brought all the noise hipsters out of their hiding places, but this made for a killer vibe in the room.

After exploding onto every festival for the past year Tkay Maidza has kicked of her own national tour, getting down to Perth on Saturday night with a slew of supports all showing off new songs. Although the night started extremely early, the young crowd were more than happy to start partying with most flashing their fresh merch (Tkay has socks guys) and enough energy to keep the acts smiling.

Festival Review: WOMADELAIDE (Day One) - Adelaide Botanic Gardens (06.03.15)

There's something about WOMADelaide that always gets me so excited. I was gutted to have missed out on the festival last year and as I took the short walk from my house down to Botanic Park, I could tell by watching the families and other people rushing through to the gates, that this was going to be another great year. The four day world music festival brings with it a bill of artists representing such a wide range of music and performance styles that it's near impossible to know every act on the line up. Which is no bad thing. Instead, you go along and discover some new favourites along the way.

Album Review: Willow Beats - Water (2014 EP)

Water is more than a name on Willow Beats new EP. It is an aesthetic theme that encompasses the release and ties together this diverse set of songs. Samples are littered across the record, sounds of dripping taps, gushing waterfalls, trickling streams, waves lapping against the shore litter the record. It’s an ambitious technique from the young uncle and niece duo, which in lesser hands could have come off as gimmicky. Here they exhibit more than enough song writing smarts to meld them into the narrative rather than being a novelty unto themselves.
