Splendour Spotlight: Our 11 favourite sets of Splendour in the Grass 2015

Splendour in the Grass has once again come and gone, and while we're free of the mud-caked wasteland that North Byron Parklands became, we will miss what really mattered first and foremost: the music. Splendour is always teeming with bands and artists giving it their very all, matching the reputation of arguably Australia's best festival with career-defining sets from local acts and big showcases from internationals both new and old. There's always much, much more than just a few highlights coming out of the weekend, whether it be a new band/artist you stumbled upon or a long-awaited live performance from an iconic band. Here, we reflect on our 11 favourite performances from the three days of live music.

Splendour in the Grass Festival Review: Saturday - North Byron Parklands (25.07.15)

Day two of Splendour in the Grass was full of big moments spread throughout the entire day, the biggest unsurprisingly being headliner Florence & The Machine. Rain didn't play a factor at all, though the mud situation only slightly improved from piles and piles of wood chips scattered around the grounds to make for helpful paths, particularly in the area in front of the main entrance which was second in thickness only to the entire space between the Mix-Up Stage and Red Bull Music Academy.

Exclusive Playlist: Tuka gives us four of his favourite tunes on 'L.D.T.E' release day!

Today marks the release of Tuka's third solo album, Life Death Time Eternal and already, the response has been extremely dope. As our Artist of the Month for July, the rapper has recently taken over AU Radio, today has announced a national tour for the album and he's brought us a little slice of what music influences him and hell, some tunes he's digging hard at the moment. Check his playlist out!

the AU interview: Tuka (Blue Mountains) talks creative development of new record "Life Death Time Eternal" and more

Hip-hop artist, Tuka is a visionary musician with clear passion for what he does. Working on both solo project as well as being part of Blue Mountains based group, Thundamentals, it's clear that his upcoming new record, Life Death Time Eternal has explored his creativity without any limits or boundaries. the AU review's Larry Heath had the opportunity to speak with Tuka and here, he begins to explain the differences between working on his solo project and Thundamentals, explaining the emotional power his solo songs have brought to him as a musician.

Music Video of the Day: Tuka "Yeah Right" (2015)

The hype surrounding Tuka's new album Life Death Time Eternal has been generating a lot of heat in recent months and off the back of successful shows with earlier this year, crowds have been able to see the Sydney rapper showcasing possibly more diversity within his personal style of writing and rapping than before. Of course, "Nirvana" is a great example of this, but now we've got album track "Yeah Right" to bite down on in the lead up to the release of LTDE and the clip makes us even more excited to hear what else Tuka has up his sleeve on album #3.

Live Review: Horrorshow + Tuka + Left. - The Gov, Adelaide (05.04.15)

My Easter Sunday wrapped up at The Gov, where Sydney's brought their stripped back 'Listen Close Tour' to an end. Considering the Adelaide show on the tour wasn't a part of the original run of dates, it was fantastic to see that the gig had sold out tonight. Supported by Tuka and Left., the night saw three acts who are normally known for some huge hip-hop and electro/soul sounds, mix it up and present their music in a raw, inventive fashion.

Horrorshow announce the 'Listen Close' Australian tour with Tuka and Tom Thum!

Horrorshow are hitting the road following sold out acoustic shows in Sydney and Brisbane last year! THe hip-hop duo are taking this stripped back format around the country on 'The Listen Close Tour', joined by Tuka and Tom Thum. It's been a wild few years for Horrorshow, who have been constantly positioning themselves as one of the best-loved hip-hop acts in the country, award nominations and wins under their belt and of course, the success the One Day collective have also been celebrating through 2014.

Live Review: Thundamentals + Dialect and Despair - Rocket Bar, Adelaide (26.10.13)

Rocket Bar is hosting Adelaide’s hip-hop community tonight, or at least some of it (the other lot would be at the Ed Castle, I imagine). I arrive to check out Thundamentals bring their ‘Smiles Don’t Lie Tour’ through the city, getting to the venue just in time to see locals Dialect and Despair wrapping up their set. Australian hip-hop, to those who aren’t fans, has a rugged, bogan veneer but man, if you’ve not been a decently run show, you’re missing out on some serious fun.

Triple J's Like A Version Nine Out Now!

triple J's Like A Version Nine is out now for all music fans to get amongst, with the record featuring some of the best covers of the past year. Taking well known tunes and putting a new spin on them, the compilation features the likes of Something For Kate, Jimblah, FIDLAR, Abbe May and more!

Photo Gallery: Illy + Tuka + Allday - Villa Nightclub, Perth (28.09.13)

Illy returned to Perth and put on massive show at Villa with support from the impressive Tuka and Allday. Stuart Sevastos brings us photos from the night.

Live Review: Illy + M-Phazes + Tuka + Allday + Elemont - The Corner Hotel (20.09.13)

A combination of AFL finals madness and Illy’s sold out gig at The Corner Hotel set the scene of this hectic Friday night in Richmond. Swan Street was packed with punters, and the internals of the Corner Hotel was no different.

Illy set for "On & On" national tour in September.

Celebrating the release of new single "On & On", Melbourne's Illy has announced a national tour. A favourite on the Australian touring circuit, the hip-hop artist has been a frequent touring artist around the place over the past few years. After he spent much of the earlier part of 2013 in the studio, working on his new release, Illy is keen to get back out there and give his fans a taste of what to be expecting from his new album.

Live Review: Seth Sentry + Tuka + Ellesquire - The Metro Theatre (24.05.13)

Seth Sentry - Metro Theatre 24.05.13

Chances are you’ll already be aware Seth Sentry has been having a huge year. Last year’s debut This Was Tomorrow was featured on Triple J, with three songs added to high rotation. He was voted Channel V’s Oz Artists of the Year, travelled to the United States to play South by South West and earning a spot on Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel, becoming the first Australian rapper to perform on a US late night TV program. Not to mention earning him a spot opening next month opening for Hip-hop royalty LL Cool J, Ice Cube and De La Soul.

After touring around Australia for the past month, Seth Sentry's sold out Dear Science tour made it to The Hi-Fi in Brisbane on Saturday night for the final leg of the tour.
