BIGSOUND Live: Highlights of Night One - Part One (09.09.15)

Walking into this year’s BIGSOUND, I feel inspired. 150+ acts, 15 venues, and looking at the program, I probably can recall a song or two from maybe 10 or so artists. This is what BIGSOUND is all about, the opportunity to walk into a venue and have no idea what you are really walking into...

Live Review: Timberwolf + Stonefox + Skies - Adelaide Unibar, Adelaide (28.08.15)

Adelaide is coming up with some cool things right now... The Timberwolf show at the UniBar on Friday night was a good example of this – of the three bands on the lineup, two (including the headliner) were very talented local bands. It's a good thing to see.

Timberwolf has been a name we've been hearing more and more of as 2015 has continued to roll out. The Adelaide artist this year released his much buzzed about debut EP Flux and has been establishing himself as a performer to be aware of on live stages around the country with spots on the Groovin' the Moo tour and supporting the likes of Bonjah and more recently, heading to New Zealand to support Gin Wigmore. Tonight, Timberwolf launches Flux in Sydney, the first of his three-date mini tour.

Album Review: Timberwolf "Flux" (2015 EP)

Chris Panousakis' career as Timberwolf has kept him on the road and busy for so much of 2014 that it's surprising he even found time to dedicate to record what has become his debut EP. Released today, Flux is a collection of songs exemplary of Panousakis' warmth and knack for melody as a songwriter and musician - this is folk music not to be taken with a grain of salt. Through the five songs featured, Timberwolf constructs some great atmospheres; the rhythms, the melodies and the haunting, almost rumbling tones of his voice put together makes for an arresting listen.

Feature: Five emerging artists from Adelaide you need to have in your life right now

There's nothing better than discovering a band before they break into the market. You get to see them earn their chops while you stand front and centre, learning every song and becoming one of their first fans. But sometimes it helps to have an idea about where to look! Last week we brought you some acts out of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to be checking out if you haven't already and today, we take things to Adelaide. In no particular order, these five artists are some of our favourite new discoveries - some have been around for a little while, others are brand new additions to the scene:

The Colour of Time parade bought people together in mutual dust and the Spanish hairdressers, Osadia were creating magnificent hairpieces. Our photographer John Goodridge brings you these photos.
