The Pirie & Co Social Club hosted some great Adelaide bands in Sincerely, Grizzly, The Angels of Gung-Ho, Palace of the King, The Scarlet Ives and FIRS on Friday night. Dubbed 'Midwinter Mayhem', the night saw one of the city's newest venues get a dose of loud tunes kick off their weekend. Our photographer John Goodridge was down there and caught these images!

Album Review: The Scarlet Ives - Dreamer Gypsy Nightmare Pixie (2012 LP)

The Scarlet Ives is one of those Adelaide bands I’ve heard many things about but have yet to experience live. They’ve been around since 2008 and since the band’s inception, they’ve been going about town, impressing local music fans and industry alike with their alt-rock/shoegaze tunes which instantly evoke the stylings of Deerhunter and even some early Radiohead.

Hailing from Ballarat but now Melbourne based, Tessa & The Typecast have fast become one of the most talked about groups in Australia, and are enjoying causing a stir across the music industry and amongst fans. Upon the release of their single ‘Painter’ in late 2010, they were immediately picked up by Triple J and XFM in London.
