Album Review: The Paper Kites - Twelvefour (2015 LP)

Melbourne five-piece The Paper Kites have come a long way from their first EP, Woodland. Over the space of four years, and four releases, the band has maintained a dynamic identity, constantly altering their sound with each sonic offering. Twelvefour has settled on an ethereal yet moody plane comprised of harmonious utterings, lush melodies and nostalgic tastes of where the band first began.

The Paper Kites recently announced a new record, twelvefour, which is due out on August 28th, and have just unveiled the music video for the first single lifted off it, “Electric Indigo”. In true Paper Kites style, it’s a gloriously chilled out song, this time with a slight 80's feel to the production.

The AU sat down with drummer Josh Bentley from The Paper Kites last week ahead of their upcoming headline appearance at the Dungog Festival in New South Wales alongside Tim Rogers, Husky, and Meg Mac. Coming off a number of international tours, a string of homeland shows and celebrating the first anniversary of their debut LP States, we talked about how they are continuing to build their sound and what we can expect from the group.

Looking to kick off their national tour in Newcastle this Friday May 29, Melbourne folk five-piece The Paper Kites have been reaping in the acclaim after the release of their debut album States. After a sold out headline tour of the USA and Canada, as well as support slots for City & Colour, this band seems to have absolutely everything going for them in the lead up to what is looking like their biggest string of Australian performances yet. We caught up with the band's dummer, Josh Bentley, to gain a little insight into States, their touring schedule, their gorgeous music video for 'young,' and their experience with Dallas Green.

Live Review: The Paper Kites + Georgia Fair + Robbie Miller - The Hi-Fi, Brisbane (06.09.13)

To celebrate the release of their debut LP States, The Paper Kites brought along their band of merry men including the boys from Georgia Fair and Robbie Miller to the HiFi in West End. Last time they played in Brisbane they played The Alhambra Lounge, so to play the HiFi is a big step up for the band. To no ones surprise they had the venue nicely full without being super packed!
