Editor-in-Chief Larry caught Perth's The Love Junkies out the front of the record store Waterloo Records, the day after the SXSW mayhem had come to an end. We find out what their experience was like and what they bought at Waterloo! Having performed for the first time in America at the showcase events, the band expressed how nervous they were before their first gig. South by South West 2015 adds 170+ new acts including some from Perth, Sydney and Melbourne

The biggest music international music conference of the year, South by Southwest (SXSW) has been busy sifting through the world wide music scene and picked up over 170 new acts who will be showcasing at the event in March. The SXSW crew will be confirming more acts and sessions every day between now and the event, but as it stands the line up of music acts is - as always - epic. In addition to these new acts, SXSW has also confirmed 12 new, engaging sessions for their traditional Music Conference.

Festival Review: WAM Festival Saturday Spectacular + Block Party - Perth (08.11.14)

Back in the first half of the year, I thought WAM did a pretty crazy thing with the State Of The Art Festival that hosted dozens of local singers and bands and scattered them around the Perth Cultural Centre. Last Saturday they outdid themselves once again, extending their reach beyond the Perth Cultural Centre and transforming Northbridge into a communal music fest. Centred around a carpark, the event lived up to its title of the Saturday Spectacular; gear up for the home-grown warm and fuzzies.

Timothy Nelson & The Infidels, Pond, The Love Junkies and more win at the 2014 WA Music Awards!

The Western Australian music industry celebrated last night with the 2014 WA Music Awards being held at Capitol in its 21st year. Big winners on the night were Timothy Nelson and The Infidels, KUČKA, Pond and The Love Junkies. Philip Stevens, the current manager of the John Butler Trio, The Waifs and San Cisco and founder of Mojo's and Martyn P. Casey, member of many bands including Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, were inducted into the Hall of Fame. The full list of winners is below!

Album Review: The Love Junkies - Blowing On the Devil’s Strumpet (2014 LP)

Fremantle trio The Love Junkies have released their sophomore LP Blowing On The Devil’s Strumpet. Unlike so many bands that find themselves swamped in a sophomore slump, The Love Junkies have prevailed with a great new suite of songs. It doesn't feel that long ago that they played a gig at my town’s local bar... and now here they are with a second album. They grow up so fast!

Gyroscope celebrating 10 year anniversary of "Sound Shattering Sound" with national tour!

Many people will remember a time when Gyroscope dominated their music collections. The Perth band who enjoyed much success from 2004 onward, I remember, were such a popular act to be listening to when I was discovering new Australian rock music in high school. Fans will remember Sound Shattering Sound fondly and probably won't believe that it's been 10 years since was released! To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the band announced today that they would be taking it on the road for a very special national tour!

Pop rock favourites Bluejuice honoured Perth last night on their Retrospectable tour giving the country one last farewell before the disbandment becomes official. Capitol welcomed a very broad spectrum of BJ fans, from the young and old to those who were just there to grope frontman Jake Stone one last time.
