The Honey Pies + The Bon Scotts + Danvers - Grace Emily, Adelaide (24.06.11)

Walking into the Grace Emily, it’s easy to see how it has earned its reputation as a great live venue. It has an incredibly tiny stage, but with its velvet curtains, fireplace and décor, it more than makes up for this in atmosphere and charm.

Punters and late night shoppers alike were able to soak up some of this atmosphere and charm on Friday night for The Honey Pies’ final gig of their four-week residency.

The Honey Pies - Think of England (2011 LP)

The snow. The Queen. The Beatles. London. Football. All things you think of when you think of England.

Chances are though, you wouldn’t think of The Honey Pies.

This Adelaide four-piece is set to release their debut album Think of England on January 10. It’s an apt title – the band’s English influences on this album are immediately clear.

Hailing from Adelaide are The Honey Pies, and in preparation for an lp they’re hoping to release sometime within the year, they’re releasing some demos to give everyone a taste of what is to come from this quartet. The most recent serving they have to offer us is ‘Too Cool For School’, and though sounding a little rough like any demo would, it’s a great snapshot to an awesome 60’s reminiscent pop song.
