It’s no surprise that U.K. band The Heavy gained their foothold in the industry in the U.S. In fact it was at SXSW that they rocked the punters and found an audience who truly understood and appreciated their brand of music. Taking their inspiration from sounds that originated on the cotton fields and in the churches of America’s ‘deep south’, they have morphed the old school styles and have come up with something quite unique, but not far enough from its parentage that the influences can’t be heard.

Excellent week of releases with a little bit of everything in there. We have a fair few releases from new bands like Silent Empathy and Inmate but there's also plenty of pop, dance and other genres including a release from Ministry of Sound and one from Raw and another from Matt Nathanson and classics The Cults.
This eclectic and varied list of tracks is singles, records, random online discoveries which have taken up a considerable amount of my listening time over the last seven days. I can only hope that all you people out there like them as much as I do. Enjoy! And come back next month for more.
