THE GROWLERS

At home with The Growlers (US) - Part Two!

The Growlers made quite the impact on Australian crowds with their debut tour dates smashing expectations earlier in the year. Perhaps it's a shared love for the sun, party vibes and a chilled disposition on living it up. Maybe it's a shared appreciation for good, raucous tunes. Either way, we weren't really surprised when the Californians announced a larger return tour, this time off the back of album number five, Chinese Fountain. Ahead of their 2015 tour, the band gives us a little insight into their world of beach, surfing, and beer on the other side of the globe.

Album Review: The Growlers - Chinese Fountain (2014 LP)

Listening to The Growlers is like taking a step into a world filled with smoke, swirling colours and good company, where it’s always the weekend and you’re not always quite sure how to stand upright. It is this comfortable, chilled out and completely laidback attitude that stands out in the Californian band’s 2014 LP release, Chinese Fountain.

Live Review: The Growlers + Tomorrow’s Tulips + The Grand Rapids - The Tote (08.03.14)

“How were that last band?” an irreverent Brooks Nielsen, front man of Californian psych-rockers The Growlers, spat sarcastically into the mic as he entered the Tote stage on Saturday night. “I remember our first show too… amateur hour.”

the AU interview: Brooks Nielsen of The Growlers (LA) tells us what they're keen on getting up to on their Australian tour!

It's not long before The Growlers are going to be on Australian shores for the first time. I sent some questions over to the band, who have been making a name for themselves as a powerhouse of a live performing unit (plus, being general rad guys), to see what their preconceptions of Australia are, what they're looking forward to and what we can be expecting from them as the year goes on. Vocalist Brooks Nielsen gives me the lowdown.

Album Review: The Growlers - Gilded Pleasures (2013 EP)

the growlers

American band The Growlers, consisting of Brooks Nielsen, Matt Taylor, Scott Montoya, Anthony Braun Perry and Kyle Straka are back with their latest offering Gilded Pleasures. The nine track EP (definitely long enough to be considered an LP rather than EP) really shows the guys are from California, with a distinct surf rock sound apparent throughout the whole album.

The Growlers heading to Australia in March!

The Growlers are coming to Australia for the first time in March! The Californians have been covering much ground in the US, as well as clocking time in London and Brazil. The band have also become a bit of a hot new thing on the festival circuit too, hitting up both Coachella and Lollapalooza - now it's Australia's turn. Bringing their Gilded Pleasures EP down under, The Growlers are going to be making audiences purr with delight.
