The final stop of the Big Day Out Festival tour landed at McCallum Park, Perth with a lineup featuring Soundgarden, Kasabian, My Chemical Romance, Battles, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Kimbra, Bluejuice and more. Stuart Sevastos brings us the photos of the day.

It was a special start to 2012 as The Getaway Plan spent NYE playing their third slot on Pyramid Rock Festival. Now, as they prepare for their second stint on the Big Day Out national touring bill, they will also take time out of their already busy 2012 schedule with a suburban run in March.

After returning from their long hiatus with incredible album Requiem, Melbourne favourites The Getaway Plan returned to a packed and incredibly excited crowd at the Hi-Fi Bar. A perfectly intimate setting for an engaging and passionate set from TGP.

You can forget about Sunday being a day of rest, with Melbourne alternative rockers The Getaway Plan bringing their mind-blowing Requiem tour to the UC refectory in Canberra, with special guests Break Even, Gatherer and Hands Like Houses.

2009 saw The Getaway Plan - one of Australia's most popular alternative rock outfits - call it a day. Late 2010 saw hints at a reunion and new music, and ever since then, their dedicated fan base have been screaming for more.

Ahead of their national tour in December and their slot at the Big Day Out, I get some time with Aaron from The Getaway Plan to speak about their new record 'Requiem', and the split which inevitably caused it.

Hey mate how’s it going? How are you feeling now that Requiem is now out?

Yeah it’s very exciting; we’ve been waiting a while to get it out.

Why did you decide to stream Requiem online the day before it’s release?

Tickets for this year’s PYRAMID ROCK FESTIVAL are flying out the door and as if you needed any more reason to stock up your campervan and head on down to Phillip Island this New Year’s season, we’ve got a whole new line-up of acts just added to the bill. Hold onto your hats, this might just blow you away…

After breaking up in 2009, a series of countdowns on The Getaway Plan's website eventually announced their return. Since then it's been clear that absence really does make the heart grow fonder, because the reaction from fans has been enormous. Luckily, "The Reckoning" completely justifies that reaction.
