The Getaway Plan smashed their set at the Darwin Railway Club. The last time the four-piece were in the Top End they played at one of the infamous Mitchell St nightclubs and many of their biggest fans were under aged (sidelined, curfewed and unable to attend). Two years on and at the gorgeous Railway Club (a more fitting venue for energetic rock), The Getaway Plan played predominately to a 'come of age' 18-22 audience - who loved the old songs as much as the tracks from the third album, Dark Horses.

the AU interview: Matthew Wright of The Getaway Plan (Melbourne) talks on new record "Dark Horses" and more

The year of possibilities seems to be under way with The Getaway Plan. With their crowdfunding campaign reaching success last year, the funding from their loyal fanbase made it possible to release Dark Horses - which is available today! Lead vocalist, Matthew Wright, was more than excited that the record was being released and this in return made him feel shocked at how fast everything came together, "It feels like just yesterday that we were making this record and then all of a sudden it's almost unshelved. It's fucking awesome."

With their strong alternative rock sound and emotive lyrics, The Getaway Plan have gone from strength to strength and we can only expect great things from them.

Album Review: The Getaway Plan - Dark Horses (2015 LP)

If there's one thing I admire about The Getaway Plan, it's their resilience that has brought them a successful and flourishing music career. Since the crowdfunding of Dark Horses started, it's pretty amazing to have seen so much support that was brought by their loyal fanbase. The band made a brave decision on leaving their record label because they felt like they weren't able to showcase material that was truly theirs. Comparing to their last two albums, 2008's Other Voices, Other Rooms and 2011's Requiem, Dark Horses is their most honest and profound record to date. The most remarkable aspect of this album is how it makes you feel something. A feeling that you can't necessarily put into words. It's a journey of using music as a solace for pain, depression and misery, showcasing The Getaway Plan's token of survival from their hiatus.

The tour, which is presumably in support of new album Dark Horse - to be released July 3 - will be including all those places on the East Coast that don't always get their share of the live show action - Towoomba, Gosford, Newcastle.

the AU interview: Matthew Wright of The Getaway Plan (Melbourne), talks new album "Dark Horses", Pledge Music, depression and cats on Instagram.

Fresh off the road as support band for Anberlin, and recently opening up a Pledge Music campaign for their upcoming album Dark Horses, The Getaway Plan are taking a step forward, releasing an album without the help of a record label.

Live Review: Anberlin + The Getaway Plan - HQ, Adelaide (04.09.14)

American alt-rockers Anberlin called it quits earlier this year after a monumental 12 years together and the release of seven much-loved studio albums. They chose to go out with a bang, bidding adieu to every corner of the globe with their almost-sold-out farewell tour. Each band member did their best to make the performance truly unforgettable and it showed in the audience's careless dance moves, off-key singing and thunderous applause.
