As I sit here, pen on paper, attempting to review the enigma that is Fear and Delight I find myself with a dilemma. For a show shrouded in mystery, how do I review something without spoiling the namesake fear and delight of this whirlwind blur clad in black and white? To divulge too much detail would be a crime against the creativity of the show. Exuding sex, the cast of nine performers tease their talents and physiques to the audience with comedy and quirkiness, all set to an amazing musical backdrop by The Correspondents.
Falls Festival 2013: four days, three bottles of vodka, zero showers, countless slices of pizza and all in all one unforgettable experience. As a Falls rookie, I had no idea what to expect when embarking on the four day festival adventure… But as I sit here, nursing the worst flu I’ve ever contracted in my life, unable to keep my eyes open for more than two hours at a time, all I can think about is the countdown to next year's festival (and wondering where on Earth I can get a breakfast pizza as amazing as the one I ate every morning for four days, #cleaneating).
In true form, the Lorne Falls Festival opens in the Grand Theatre with a variety of interesting acts intermingled with some audience participation courtesy of Legs Akimbo from London. Think three legged and sack races and baby oil wrestling. Our photographer John Goodridge was there to capture the fun.
Following on from an impressive debut in the City of Churches at WOMADELAIDE 2013, The Correspondents return in January to play as part of the Adelaide Festival Centre's 'Sessions' series. Mr Bruce brings us up to speed on what the duo have been up to since, how they're anticipating this Australian trip and more!
As we head ever nearer to the end of the year, the good folk who run the annual Falls Festival in Lorne, Marion Bay and now Byron Bay, have announced who will be flying to Australia to spend the New Year period with us. The festival, headlined last year by Irish trio Two Door Cinema Club and featured the likes of DZ Deathrays, The Hives and The Flaming Lips, has brought some impressive talent with its first artist announcement.
From the 9th to 11th of March, Adelaide was treated to music from around our world at WOMADelaide. Chad Lofts was there to capture these moments to share with you day three of WOMADelaide.
I love the vibe of WOMADELAIDE; anyone you talk to who’s attended as a punter or as a part of the line-up will have the same opinion – it’s one of the only music festivals where there is no pretension, no restriction and most of all, it celebrates diversity to the utmost of its potential. I was only able to attend two out of the four days this year but in all honesty, but it didn’t deter me from having a great experience once again.
At this time of year, a lot of people tend to look back at things that happened through the year. In this little review though we lookforward and look at a bunch of Australian bands (and a few from overseas) that are due for some exciting things in the new year.
