TEX PERKINS AND THE DARK HORSES

the AU interview: Joel Silbersher of Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses talks upcoming album and evolving their sound

Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses have been hard at work on their upcoming album Tunnel at the End of the Light, due for release July 17. Acting as the third part in a trilogy of albums, the languid and meditative LP is convincingly real, offering a dynamic foundation for the band's upcoming shows this July and August. Guitarist Joel Silbersher walks us through the album and its many components.

Tex Perkins has been front man for The Cruel Sea and pub rock band The Beasts of Bourbon. This time he has bought his band The Dark Horses to Adelaide for the Cabaret Festival. Our photographer John Goodridge was there to capture a few snaps.

the AU Weekend Gig Guide: March 6th - March 9th.

We've taken a look at some of the shows we're going to be heading to through the weekend ahead and deliver you this guide - where will you be partying?

Photo Gallery: Rock The Gate - Enmore Theatre, Sydney (23.11.14)

A huge benefit to raise funds and awareness for the important anti-fracking cause was held in Sydney, with the likes of Pete Murray, Nahko and more coming together for the brilliant 'Rock the Gate' event. Gwendolyn Lee was there for the AU and brings us these photos!

'Rock the Gate' - why one music concert is taking over Enmore Road this November.

This November, a stellar group of musicians are coming together in Sydney for what looks set to be a great day and night of live music. 'Rock the Gate', featuring the likes of Pete Murray and The Herd, will be taking over the Enmore Theatre on the 23rd, but the music is set to continue outside and down Enmore Road, with the busy cafe and business strip coming to the table and taking part in what's going to be a huge street party. This all sounds good, but why? Well, 'Rock the Gate' isn't just about providing Sydneysiders some good times on a Sunday, it's also about shedding light on and raising awareness about a serious issue many Australians now face, but may know little about.

Live Review: Tex Perkins and The Dark Horses + Mike Noga - The Zoo, Brisbane (08.11.12)

Sometimes you can pick a good gig by the amount of musicians in the audience, in much the same way that people choose a Chinese restaurant based on the amount of Chinese people who eat there. Wandering around the thin crowd at The Zoo, you could spot members of local institutions, The Gin Club and Powderfinger, which filled me with confidence about the musical nourishment we were about to feast on.

Tex Perkins and The Dark Horses Touring "Everyone's Alone" Through October & November

Tex Perkins is quite the musical maverick, it's pretty fair to say. Throughout October and November, Perkins and one of his many projects, Tex Perkins and the Dark Horses, will be heading out on an album tour! The record, Everyone's Alone is the follow up to 2011's self-titled debut for the band and the tour will see the fantastic record brought to life, beginning in Tasmania.

Adelaide Cabaret Festival Smashing Sales Records!

After a huge opening weekend, the 2012 Adelaide Cabaret Festival has easily reached it's bo office target of 91%. The Queen's Birthday weekend saw many quality shows take place at the Festival Centre, many of which were sold out before the festival's opening night.

Tex Perkins' Double Barrel Tour hit Sydney at the Factory Theatre last night. Tex performed all night long with his Band of Gold supporting and The Dark Horses performing songs from their ARIA nominated album, Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses. Photos by Kyleigh Pitcher.

Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses - Judith Wright Centre (07.10.11)

A musician of Tex Perkins’ experience and talent has the freedom to create music without the pretence and pomp of an ‘emerging artist’. Lately I’ve been going to see a lot of ‘up-and-coming’ young muso’s in fashionably grungy establishments, so to see a man of Perkins’ reputation in such a civilised venue was refreshing.

Tex Perkins and The Dark Horses + Adalita - The Thornbury Theatre (17.06.11)

The Thornbury Theatre is an odd spot to see the legendary Tex Perkins and The Dark Horses. It’s a style reminiscent of a reception centre, so when I walked in the tables were full and I needed to squish my way near the front to find a seat side of stage.
