Soundwave announces a new Sydney venue – say hello to the Showgrounds!

Soundwave announced today that it would no longer be holding the Sydney show at the Eastern Creek Raceway – hinting that they would return there next year, however, as they continue to work on site improvements: increased shade, water taps etc.

In its place, the festival will now take place at the home of Big Day Out, the Sydney Showgrounds at Sydney Olympic Park. This should make for a very different festival, and we at the AU review are looking forward to seeing how they manage it. With just a few weeks to go until the event, will they have the time to adapt to the new environment?

I guess we’ll find out when we rock and roll to Iron Maiden, Queens of the Stone Age, Slayer, Slash, Primus, Melvins, Third Eye Blind, Feeder and a shitload more on February 27th. Tickets remain valid for the new venue.

Brisbane and Melbourne, meanwhile are sold out, and limited tickets remain for Perth and Adelaide – which take place on the 7th and 5th of March, respectively. No venue has yet been confirmed for the Perth event – although we expect to hear something soon.
