SOMETHING WITH NUMBERS

the AU interview: Shawn From The Matches (USA) Talks Reunion Tour And The Philosophy Of The Matches

Ten years ago, The Matches were a little, little DIY punk band of California, releasing their first album E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals, an album full of thrashy, loose, fun songs about girls and friends and parties. Now, they're playing sold out shows across The States in celebration of that album. In anticipation of their Australian tour in January, I had a chat with lead singer Shawn Harris about how it feels to be playing those old songs to old fans and how it feels to be back playing punk songs with his first band.

The album is a return to form, of sorts, for Something With Numbers, who we haven't seen release any material since Engineering The Soul. The boys will be heading out on a national tour to support the album's release through June - the details of which you can find below.

Coaster Festival - Gosford Showgrounds (17.09.11)

Last weekend I was reunited with Gosford for the first time in several years. When we first met back in 2009, we didn’t get along so well. A guy jumped the train tracks and fence in an attempt to steal my friend’s Subway, boys who looked about 12 made crude comments, and a hobo stood two metres away screaming at seemingly nothing. This time was different however, as I kicked back for the weekend and soaked up the highly intense sun at Coaster Festival.
